The negative review above is ridiculous. This is not a routine you would perform more than once with the same people. The foundation of the routine is that there is only one card in the box. How would you present this again to the same group? "There's still only one card in the box folks, but this time, it's different."

I bought this at TAOM and it is pretty freaking awesome, and the card(s) that come with it are not paper but like a plastic rubber type material and it should last for a very long time. Great trick add to cart now!

I really can't express enough how much I have fallen in love with this little piece of theater that you can carry around with you. There is nothing that I don't like about it. The props are top notch. The teaching is second to none and the fun that I will have performing this will be worth it's price ten fold. I am looking at the matchbox as I am writing this and I am eager to go out and perform. When I first read the description of the effect I became curious. When I saw the demo I got excited. I knew that this was right up my ally. I couldn't wait to receive it and it was well worth the wait. Believe in your performance and have fun with it. Happy strolling!

It is unfortunate that someone posted a review here while admittedly does not even own the trick since that person's opinion is not based upon facts but mere assumptions. I actually own the trick. There is not only one revelation possible. Different outcomes are possible and can be done table hoping without necessarily repeating the same card at each table or group of people.

That being said, i is a very strong effect. Do not expect it to be done straight out of the box. There is some sleight of hand needed but nothing difficult. It will take practice to get smoothly. The props supplied are very nice and will last a very long time.

All the positive things you've read about INFERNO are true! I have just started sharing this elegant, interactive effect with my corporate audiences and the response is incredible! The gimmicks are beautifully made. You get six gimmicks, plus two matchboxes, in case one wears out. You can even use any other matchbox that will hold a quarter folded card. Most importantly, you receive Josh Jay's excellent ideas, handlings and an incredible approach to equivoque that is foolproof and extremely deceptive.
The structure of the routine ensures that you can create your own story and have fun with your spectators. For $30, INFERNO is a bargain and something that any worker will use often. Thanks, Josh!

The reviewer who rated this effect poorly does not know what he is talking about. That is because he doesn't own it. Gotta love fools who review stuff they don't own or know anything about. This trick has the option for multiple different outcomes but I wouldn't do it for the same group more than once. But I thought that was one of the first rules of magic we learn. You also couldn't possibly know the method to this effect because the method isn't one method, it's multiple methods that allow this effect to work. The DVD is well shot and Josh teaches it beautifully. The effect is very thoughtful and it kills. It's also uber portable and easily resets. It's a worker for sure.

This trick is a gem. Put the matchbox in your pocket, and you are ready to go, anywhere, anytime. The instructions on the DVD are excellent - you will learn to perform this in less that half an hour. Thank you, Jay.

What attracted me to this effect is that it doesn't require a deck to be used because it's done with only one card. Moreover with an effective presentation, Inferno can be performed at almost any given time.

Inferno comes with two disassembled match boxes, four normal cards, two gaffed cards, and an instructional DVD. The cards are coated with a very thin, glossy, plastic laminate that not only is helpful for the effect itself but puts years into the life of the cards. You can perform the trick numerous times a day every day without flawing the cards. Joshua was awesome enough to include two match boxes just in case you lose one or one falls apart after numerous performances. The DVD is very well produced and extremely easy to follow.

Inferno can be done two ways: one way using sleights and one way without the sleights. Using the version with sleights is much more hard-hitting and amazing, and allows every prop to be examined. The version without the sleights doesn't allow you to end clean; the card shown at the end cannot be examined. On that note, without giving the secret away, the version using sleights doesn't allow you to end clean either, technically. This, however is for a very brief moment; with a simple gesture you're left absolutely clean. The sleights don't require any particular skill. They can be executed perfectly even to the beginner; they're that easy. But it goes without saying - the less skilled you are, the more practice you'll need.

I've performed Inferno to a handful of friends who all have been equally stumped. One of my friends was so dumbfounded over this effect she called me at 3:40 in the morning begging me to tell her how it was done. Needless to say I didn't appreciate being awakened that early but it sucked even more for her because she couldn't get any sleep over it.

As awesome as this effect is, there are downsides to it. I wouldn't recommend performing this effect more than once for the same audience; they'll get an idea of what you're actually doing. If you think you can really pull it off with presentation, and you know your audience is oblivious, then it's your prerogative to perform it again but I'd advise to just show it once. I'd also advise to be careful of angles. This is not at all a big deal but you certainly can't have anyone directly behind you watching the effect from over your shoulder. Be a bit cautious when performing for your friends at different times. What I mean is particularly with close friends, try to perform the effect for all of them at once that way they're left with just one card to talk about. If you perform for your friends once at different times, they may get together one day and talk about this effect, then realize the cards they chose are in a suspicious pattern.

I highly recommend this effect. The work and brainstorming Joshua put into this is well worth the price. I personally would purchase this effect again just to support Josh and have extra props just in case of anything. Thank you, Josh!

I really like the method of "forcing" the spectator's choices. With a bit of creativity and performance skill it is very very convincing.

The thing I don't like is the slight of hand that is required for the reveal at the end. I think, even when Josh Jay does it in the video, it looks suss.

I have developed a method of reveal that works much better for me and is much more impossible.

I cannot recommend this more! It is extremely practical and also very easy to accomplish. I believe this is much more powerful than the invisible deck and I will be using it very often. In regards to the bad review below, this person is clearly not an experienced magician, who probably does not like it because he performed it for a group more than once and in the process revealed the method. Yes this effect cannot be repeated to the same people more than once but the same goes for pretty much every other effect. Once I performed inferno and the spectators believed my victim was a stooge(which they were of course not). Most of the time this effect will go 100% according to plan and blow minds out of the water and I love it! Make inferno your next purchase!
