It is not difficult to understand the principle of this okay effect... but for the $38 one has to
fork out.. I thought I’d be getting a heavy cardboard or at best laminated brochure prop. With the
prop only being lightweight paper.. I can only imagine how quickly this high priced (simple effect)
will last.
Yes, I realize one has to charge for the “reveal” but the gaff is the best part
and well made... but I think it would be a better buy if you included at least 3 or 4 more of the
(relatively cheap) brochure paper card flyers.... print it on a more durable heavier stock... or
sell it laminated for the price... this is NOT a negative review for the effect in and of itself...
it’s a nice effect for the working performer... just thinking out loud to hopefully improve the
product. Thanks!

Henry Evan's 3D advertising really does look as quick and magical as the video.
The actual
working of the effect is simple: "Can you catch a falling deck of cards?" Then you can do it. Giving
the brochure a simple shake causes the effect to work. The only other action is to have your
catching hand ready to catch the pack. You've heard it before, but even a child could do it. Very,
VERY little skill required. Minimal at best. Which is fine, because it allows you to focus on your
presentation. Presentation is the REAL secret of any effect.
I'm currently including this
effect in my club act and my parlor show.
I really love this effect, and think it's one of
Henry's best, but I want to add a slight caveat: The angles on this effect are quite limiting. Your
viewers must be in front. I tell you that so you won't be letdown. But I'll bet you already had that
figured, no?
I've had mine for a long time, and yes, it is well constructed, but after long
use, mine began to wear out and become "crooked". For me it was a simple matter to pull apart the
gimmick, and re-construct a new one from scratch. Anyone with a modicum of arts and crafts skills
could so the same. Just a little glue and tape, scissors, etc, and you can have a brand spanking new
gimmick in minutes.
The DVD that comes with it is brief and minimal, instruction wise, but
what would one expect as the effect is short and simple, so the instructions are commensurate with
the effect.
Oh, and there is another limitation you need to be aware of: You don't really
have a free choice of deck colors to choose from. You are limited to "selecting" the red deck. Just
though you might like to know that.
But even with it's limitations, don't be dissuaded.
This is still a fine, eye-popping effect. As visual as it gets, and I think you will like it. Heck,
you might even add it to your show, as I did!
Magically, Doug

This overall is just a super fun way to produce a deck. Everything is well contructed and its just
too easy and fun not to like. It also passed the wife test so that's a plus. I also appreciate the
small routine Dan Harlan put together for the download video. What you see is what you get and what
you get is awesome.

This is a great idea and very visual. The gimmicks are very good. The poster or advertisement is
so-so. It's paper and mostly in Spanish. It should be in English (when sold here) and should have
a light lamination so that it lasts. I laminated the advertisement. The gimmick still works fine
and now it will last as long as I do. The DVD is poorly prepared but you can still get the info and
suggestions it provides. If you can live with the Spanish and don't mind laminating the poster buy
this. Again, a great idea.

Great effect & easy to do. However, The quality of the brochure could have been better.

Easy to do right out of the packing.
The only complaint I have is that you are not able to
download the instructional video. You can only view it on the website. This is with all Henry Evans
Items.
If you need to see the instructions in the future, and for whatever reason, the
video is no longer accessible, you are out of luck.
Other than that, this is a great effect
and easy to do.

Opening effects need to grab the audienc’s attention in a relatively short period of time and make
an impact. A strong start can set the tone for your entire show. 3D Advertising checks off all the
right boxes for an opener. It’s quick, colorful, easy to understand and catches the viewer by
surprise.
Better yet, it’s easy to perform, which means your focus and attention can be
spent on your presentation. It’s well made and no arts and crafts are required, which makes it a
winner in my book.
When certain Penguin magicians present and teach an effect, I know that
the trick is going to be well made and learning will be easy. One of these special Performers is
Dan Harlan. He takes a vested interest in whatever he is demonstrating and always goes the extra
mile, by adding additional routining. I have never been disappointed with a Dan Harlan sales pitch.
Even when he’s interviewing the creator of an effect, he will be honest with his comments.
If an effect claims to be self working and that’s not completely true, he will be specific with his
critics. Dan’s either a really good actor or his love for Magis is genuine. I believe the latter.
3D Advertising is in my A act.
