Let's just start by saying that everyone should own the book "Royal Road to Card Magic". If you
don't, use the search box above and go to that page and order it. This DVD is a great companion set
to the book. I would read the book as I went to sleep, carefully inspecting diagrams and re-reading
paragraphs until it made sense. The logical evolution are these DVDs. As brilliant as the book is
(and it is really great) this DVD set takes abstract concepts and shows them to you. It wasn't until
I watched this set that I realised I was doing a few key moves wrong. The content is absolutely
solid and it follows the book perfectly. If you are a beginner magician I would still recommend
picking up Born to Perform Card Magic first - simply for the fact that it gets you performing tricks
more quickly - but once you are ready for some more in-depth study, the book and this DVD set
combined make a great resource. It takes discipline to keep to it because R. Paul Wilson is quite
dry in his delivery but the results far out-weigh a few moments of boredom. Definitely buy now.

Believe me when I say that I went through just about every beginner card magic video I could until I
got to this one. Soon after I was kicking myself for not just listening to the pro's and starting
here. This is simply the best beginning card magic video set out there. Get the book. Get this. And
study. Also, this video is not meant as entertainment, so don't turn it off cause you think it is
'boring'. This is about learning, and this is considered by many to be the best for a reason.

I've been into Card Magic for about 6 months. I bought Royal Road to Card Magic as an ebook and was
working through it, but at times really wanted a more visual working out of the move(s) described in
the book.
This DVD is Just that! R Paul Wilson is detailed, camera angles are clear, and for
most every trick, he walks through the explanation. I use if more for the slights however, so I
make sure my finger placement etc. is as it should be.
It does seem a bit expensive but you're
getting hours and hours of thorough instruction so ultimately, it's actually a very good deal.
No regrets at all, and highly recommended if you're starting out in card magic, especially with
Royal Road to Card Magic, and just need a visual aid.

I bought this a companion to the Royal Road To Card Magic book after its recommendation on many
discussion sites. As R. Paul Wilson states in the introduction, the DVDs purpose is to be used as a
visual supplement to the book. It clears up the small refinements that are the weakness of written
text alone. If your a beginner, like I am, this, combined with the book, pretty much starts at A
and gives you the skills toward mastery. A smart move on Penguin's part would be to offer a package
of the book and DVD (at a discount, of course!). I own several of the "classics" of card magic. I
found this combo is THE place to start.

I have the book and found it good and hard at the same time. The videos streamlined whad had taken
me several readings of the book. Wilson does a good job of showing, explaining, and giving tips
that are not in the book.

I bought the book which is great but some of the tricks needed little more explanations. When I
bought the DVD, it clarified the trick very well. This DVD along with the book will make beginner
card magicians so much better.

The classic book, that many top Magicians got their start with in magic is brought to DVD. Paul
Wilson, one of the top sleight of hand artists in the world, covers all the important highlights
from the book. From the proper technique for the double turnover, to the classic pass.
Plus
you'll learn what has been called the greatest card trick ever cerated, Dai Vernon's Matching The
Cards.

I've had this set for YEARS and could never get through it because Paul is so dull and unengaging.
I'll leave the review of material for others and just stick with the low energy, lack of enthusiasm
he brings to the program.

I bought this because i struggled with RRTCM but this really helped and with a little imagination
you should be able to make much better tricks then what they show you on here although many of them
are brilliant!
