Although I purchase a lot from Penguin, I didn't purchase this here, however I am posting my review
here as many reviewers on this site have been very helpful and this is the way I try and give back.
I have been performing a single needle daily for 2 weeks. The day I got it, I practiced it
about ten times with a toothpick at first breaking off pieces until I got the right size for my
mouth, before trying it with a needle. You can use a piece of raw spaghetti as an alternative. This
should not be overlooked, practice, practice, practice makes perfect, and THIS EFFECT IS INHERENTLY
DANGEROUS!!! That's the appeal to the spectators, so tread lightly and be "hyper-aware" of your
audience, participant, and the needle at all times, just as Wayne states in the video.
That
said, if you can get it down, this is elegant and mysterious, and just plain bizarre, so don't
under-play it.
If you can master this one, you will be performing a piece of enchantment for
all who witness it, play it up big and people will never stop talking about you ;)
I was a
bit weary of trying this, being mostly a card and slight of hand artist, but with a little thought
and practice, I can now do this with 3 rather large needles with ease, which is a bit contradictory
to the "single needle" concept, but for me, I think 3 is always a magic number to use. It took a
little thought and a bit of change to the moves during loading, but for me it's worth it. I also
performed it with a single needle the same day I learned it, but it was only for my wife late that
night after practicing for hours, after practicing, I walked around the house doing my usual
routine,.. all with the needle in my mouth just to get comfortable with it.
This is a
stunning showpiece, give it the respect it deserves and be careful, you CAN poke yourself with the
needle in your mouth if you're not "hyper-aware"!
You'll be not too crazy worried about it
if you've done anything like it before, or have been pierced in the lip or tongue, etc,.. but don't
be careless.
Highly recommended. For adults only!

THIS TRICK CAN BE A HAZARD TO YOUR WELL BEING! THE DVD SHOULD COME WITH A SKULL AND CROSSBONES ON
IT.
Now that you have been warned, this illusion is absolutely fantastic!
The
tutorial by Mr. Houchin may very well be the clearest and cleanest I have ever seen. Taken step by
step and with the appropriate amount of practice, I was able to perform this seeming miracle just as
demonstrated on Penguin Magic, but, as Mr. Houchin repeatedly warns in the instructions, there is a
real element of danger and complete concentration is a must.
However, with risk comes
the reward. The expressions on my audience’s faces, a combination of terror, trepidation and
ultimately amazement, were well worth the work required for this illusion.

wow, all i can say is that this trick is soo much better than what i thought. At first i thought it
might not work well in close up situations, but after a few performances, it works perfectly! i
received the DVD and was performing the effect merely minutes after watching it. It is so good, and
extremely fooling to a spectator. Some have already told me they are scared for me while i'm doing
the trick! haha i think this trick will go with Wayne Houchin's "thread" perfectly. Swallow a
needle, have the spectator fish it out, take the needle off the thread, proceed to swallow the
thread, and end by pulling it out of your eye! talk about a reputation maker. Overall, i am
extremely satisfied and will continue to by anything Wayne creates.

Leave it to Wayne to re-invent a classic! I've done the 20 needle trick for over 30 years, the only
problem I had was that, to do it properly, sometimes it's too long of piece to add in many
circumstances. THIS has the same(if not GREATER)punch and plays much quicker!

Wayne breaks this down super hard. Really elegant and hard hitting effect. People ready can't look
away. This is what I'll pull out if I want to laser focus the crowd. It's easier to perform than I
expected (but expect to get a few mouth pokes while you're figuring everything out. They don't
really hurt just be very aware of what you're doing with a needle in your mouth. )

This is a must-have for any magician looking to expand their repertoire beyond card/coin/ring magic.
It adds an air of danger and suspense to your reputation that people will look forward to when they
see you perform. The quality of production is great, as with all of WH’s products.
Suggestion:
Without spoiling anything, I must suggest that you use a spool of thread that is
traditionally used in sewing machines. This can take the place of the handmade gimmick WH suggests.
Amazing product. Buy this now.

I've had this DVD for a while, and took a while to work up the "nerve" to actually try this. I've
finally worked out the plan. I'm using cross stitch needles. the point is rounded and much less
sharp. plus they're a little bigger, so the visual is a little more of a "pop" when it comes out on
the string.
this one is definitely staying in my set.

Great trick!
Easy to perform and explained extremely well.
However, for this trick one has
to make a gimmick.
On the video you see how the gimmick looks likes and works
but one is not
exactly shown how to make one exacty the same way
as his one. That said, it should be pretty
straight forward how to
make the gimmick. One tip: you will need a drill.

I've had this quite a few months now. It's important to say that the method isn't exactly what you
are thinking: it allows you to show the string FREELY, you can move your hands all along the string.
I've performed this quite a few times with great success.
I HIGHLY recommend it!
