The rings routine is not taught. That was the reason I bought this lecture. I wanted to learn a few
"non-standard" moves--the down the arm, the tossing the ring up and linking move. I pointed this out
to Support. But it still doesn't say "performance only" in the description. I wrote Support twice,
and finally Chris wrote back and said he would investigate, and get back with me, but he never did.
Pop is great. The lecture is great overall. But some of the lecture is incomplete, and an
ad to buy Pop's individual products.
In this case, I wish I had just bought Pop's Ring
Routine direct from him.

I love Pop's performances at the Castle and I catch him every time I can as I know he's a crowd
pleaser. I also thought he had some great stories and some fun material here, however some big
things were glossed over. I saw some great moves in the color changing knives routine that weren't
taught, and the linking rings are performance only, not explained.
All in all I was
entertained and I did learn some new things (his coins across is great,) however this lecture
assumes that the viewer already knows quite a bit.

Many of the routines are not fully taught, some only a couple of aspects. To learn the full
routines, you are referred to DVDs or booklets to purchase.
I would have given it 3 stars,
but some for the pointers were worth more.
For a number of routines he gives also gives
useful insight into how spectators think, and why he then does things a particular way. Pay
particular attention to his thoughts on the 3 shell game,

Hey guys, I love Whit. I used to table hop in Long Beach at Bogart's, in Seal Beach at Rum Runners,
and in Santa Monica at Merlin McFly's during the late 70's and 80's. Whit was performing at a
restaurant for the richer folk in the Malibu area! Needless to say during this time he was known as
one of the best in the business, then 20-30 years go by... I've followed his career and he never
ceases to show his expertise, charm, and understanding of magic. A true delight, just watch and
learn from someone who has earned his rite of passage. :)

Pop took the stage rocked the studio audience and I'm sure like me, everyone at home.
You
could earn a great living ( and many have ) with what Pop taught.
Nothing was glossed
over, but was taught in-depth to guarantee surefire success with your audiences.
You don't
just learn the mechanics of the tricks, but get a lifetime of experience imparted on how to make
them show pieces!

This Penguin Lecture had a HUGE impact on my magic. Pop's routines and theory on his performance
really can open your mind on what magic and performing can be. Pop is a great storyteller both when
presenting magic, and when talking about theory so it's easy to listen and learn from him.
I personally didn't take any stars away for this because I feel like this is one of the best
Penguin Lectures I ever bought, but a negative for some people may be that multiple routines were
shown and not fully taught. For full teaching you would need to buy his routines as a separate
download.
Close-Up and Parlor routines are shown and the REAL gold of this lecture are the
theories behind the routines and performance.

I am on the monthly subscription for the Penguin lectures
and I have only good things to say
about it. To get a three
to four hour lecture from people in the know is priceless.
The
knowledge they share has helped me massively on presentation, attitude, and finding about twenty
tricks to do well than instead of buying a new trick each week and
not learning how to do it
well, and getting caught. If you plan on doing this for a living, or want to make money,
while
entertaining, this is a must. The Pops Haydn lecture
was one of the best I have ever seen. I
have the school for scoundrels DVDs, but his lecture blew them away. after his
lecture I went
to my magic room, dug up my shell game, and started practicing his moves, and now I am now using it
at the bar for drinks and cash. The chain game also goes straight to the bar, still practicing it,
but cant wait to start betting on that little jewel.
In short:
1. Get the all access lecture
pass from Penguin.
2. If you missed Pops Haydn " GET IT " if you want to make
money not
just tips. Everyone knows the three shell game
and everyone knows they are going to loose,
but they
can't help themselves they are going to play and they
are going to bet
five bucks, just to be entertained.
3. Stay out of my territory.
Thank you Penguin for
being the number one website for magic.

I really love Pop Haydn and I had been thinking about ordering this for quite awhile. Honestly was
disappointed in the video quality. I have purchased many downloads from Penguin, and this video is
blurry, and it seems the camera man was inexperienced.

yes, that's a long title, but I'm actually going to do that.
This is a fantastic lecture
and its full of how to handle your slights and a bunch of secrets and moves and tricks and all that
clap trap most magicians seem to watch for at lectures.
I between all that junk (and it is
top of the line junk) is real gold.
There are moments in this lecture where Pop talks
about developing your character, your backstory, and how magic works in the minds of the audience
that are better said than I have ever heard or read them.
Consider the information
contained in this lecture required learning for becoming a great performer.
Now I have to
go watch it a second time! (How in the world am I going to find the time!)
