Ok I bought this effect thinking it would be easy to perform. I think I bought it almost 1.5 yrs
ago. Only in the last 2 months did I feel confident enough to perform.Having said that - the wait,
effort and practice was well worth it. This is the trick I do to the managers and the Big Boys. This
is what they remember. This is a reputation maker. Their ring.
4 stars:
1. When I
bought it, it came with a ribbon and no cord - I think it still comes with that. I wish it came with
a cord. I use a shoelace that Greg says you must not use because it is a shoe lace - but in all
honesty it is better in my opinion than the ribbon which is a bit "eh".
2. There are some
sleights that I would love to use but Greg doesn't show you them in performance mode - only in
explanation, which leaves it up to the watcher to figure out what to do/say when doing "the move".
If I'm paying so much for this DVD then I want to be spoonfed.
It kills me to write the
above because Greg is incredible and I love his work. But the 2 points above are minor because the
routine gets remarks like: "HOLY ****!" and "How the F did you do that?????" Therefore this is worth
it. I carry my "rope" with me wherever I go... and no - not on my shoe hahaha. Add to cart

the ideas and the routines are really good. well, it takes some practice(more than usual)to find a
complete routine that suits you and master it. there are two reasons I give it only three star:
-First, it is quite expensive.
-Second, the dvd could be a bit more helpful at some points.
you are probably going to understand every routine but sometimes it will be quite difficult...
All in all, if you are willing to practice it a lot before you try it in public, give it a try

Probably Penguin won't let this review in as I am sure they don't want sales to drop. When you
watch the video you can see that Gregory is using a professional looking rope with this purchase.
Instead of the rope you get Christmas wrapping ribbon. It looks like someone just took off a piece
and cut it. In my opinion it just takes away from the trick. In the DVD he even says he doesn't use
a shoelace because it doesn't look professional and that is why you get this nice fancy velvet
cord.... which you don't. The Video is a bit misleading. Excellent video of sleights, just
disappointed in the blue ribbon. :(

I'm a big Gregory Wilson fan and started with this DVD to get there.
To be honest I don't
perform the routine much anymore but use a lot of the elements taught from here. His tips on
misdirection, the way he researched to build the routine and even his tips on selling the sleights.
Although I don't use it much, when I did, this was an effect constantly requested. I know
other magicians who built their restaurant careers off of this and still perform it professionally.
I love this routine and really enoyed every second of learning it.
After you buy
this DVD (because you should!) check out Rope, Nut, Knot. With the two resources together you could
construct one crazy great routine :-)

Wilson goes a little fast in the explanations, but after watching the DVD a few times, it is easy to
perform the effects. He gives you so much material to work with. You can easily pick 4 or 5 effects
out of the batch and make your own ruin that fits you best. Excellent buy!

I bought this DVD several years ago hoping to pick up a few tips I could incorporate into the ring
and string routine I was already performing. I wasn't expecting much, but what I found was a gold
mine of tips and techniques. I never leave home without my string (small cord) in my pocket. I even
carry a wedding band with me just in case no one has a ring I can borrow. My favorite thing to do is
go into a jewelry store in a mall and ask to see an expensive ring. Then I do killer routine,
vanishing the ring entirely at the end. There is always a look of panic that comes over the clerk's
face, but when the ring reappears in an impossible location, under impossible conditions, their
heart nearly stops. Yes, there are a few sleights invloved, but they aren't difficult. They do
require practice to do well, otherwise you will just look foolish. What you need more than sleight
of hand skills are presentation skills. It is more about being able to effectively direct your
audience's attention to where you want it, and performing all the moves as if you were making NO
MOVES AT ALL. Much of the success of this routine will depend entirely upon your abaility to BE a
magician...fully confident in your technical skills, but more importantly in your presentation
skills. This routine slays the spectators and leaves them KNOWING they have seen real magic. I will
not leave home without this, and cannot rcommond this highly enough. I would give it 10 stars if it
were possible.

Requires a lot of practice but I like it.

This routine is fantastic! The routine is well put together and gets great reactions. The DVD also
teaches a lot of moves not used in the routine, allowing you to combine your own choice of moves
together to build your own routine. You get a great routine and a great ring and string education.

One of my all time favorite illusions to perform. 100% Sleight of hand and pure skill. Requires
practice and confidence, but definitely worth the time. I sometimes use this as a finale for a show

I purchased this dvd some time ago and wasn't disappointed at the least. I like to walk around with
the least amount of gimmicks as possible and this allows me to do just that while at the same time
giving my cards a rest. The routines on this dvd are pleasantly put together to build for a trick
that can get huge responses... I discovered that adding pro flight to the end of this routine is
KILLER !!!!! dead ass serious !... look into the two and see for yourself.... Add deluxe nest of
wallets and you have a solid full routine and still can walk around comfortably without feeling
loaded with gimmicks on your person... Oh and your always ready !!!!!
