mathematical mysteries
a misnomer....although an entertaining and informative
review...there was only one mathematical segment....I ordered it because I am a math
freak...ergo a little disappointing

The first tutorial. I wish he would have given me an actual website address that he talked about.
Second tutorial. Wasn't thrilled since the numbers always add up to the total. Easy to figure
out.
Third tutorial: It's excellent but that routine has been around for years and I knew it.
Fourth Tutorial: I really enjoyed it, the best. Very strong effect.

Frankly speaking, not the best lesson in the recent Tarbell instalments. Most of the effects
explained relates to mathemacal magic only for the number which are cited in the course of them.
That's not mathematical magic in the strict sense of the word. There's still something good but...it
could be better. Don't give up guys, anyway!

Was never good at math in school, but Dan does a good job as usual explaining things. I steer clear
of long drawn out tricks with cards and the like as i prefer quick, " Hey, check this out."
illusions, but if you are performing a show to a captive audience, and want to incorporate mentalism
or math, then Tarbell is a good place to start and Dan presents it well.

Great and clear explanations, nice they are done with an audience; makes one appreciate Dan's
abilites as performer as well as teacher.
All that's missing is a web site to get the
dollar bill #'s or perhaps I missed something.

I am a total novice and this was superbly done with many extra suggestions. Never have done a
review before, but this called for one. Thanks and keep up the excellent work on a great project.

Someone above was dismissive of the maths involved in these tricks. I see it differently - the fact
that the maths involved is actually not overly challenging makes the routines themselves really
clever - developing these tricks required insight and ingenuity. I've yet to "perform" these tricks
but I'm confident I will be able to do so.
Money well spent.
I'd really appreciate any
more maths based tricks - as a teacher I like to liven up my classes / challenge the kids to work
out how tricks work. I'm always on the hunt for more material.

Take a classic set of magic books that have more than stood the test of time but would be even
better if updated in some areas to better align with today's society. Add the knowledge and
enthusiasm of Dan Harlan and you have a recipe for success! In Tarbell 9, the first effect that Dan
performed has made the entire series worth the investment and it has only started.

I'm so excited to round up a small audience to preform these tricks.
I'm favoring the
Mystery of Traveling Numbers as my first endeavor. I went through 100 $1 bills to find 5 suitable
bills and only one triple 3. I used Math Papa for the factorization calculator.
Dan Harlen has a great way of doing some updates for these effects. I really like the way that he
does the prediction to match a serial number on a dollar, this is really beautiful! This is such a
great way to go through the Tarbell book series.
