One at a time you show three separate pieces of rope. There is a very short piece, a medium length piece, and a long piece. You fold the three pieces, make eye contact with your spectators, and open the ropes out again to reveal that all three pieces are now exactly the same length.

You continue by restoring the ropes to their original different lengths. As an ultra-clean finish you toss them out for immediate examination.

The effect can be repeated as often as you like. Nothing is used up. There are no gimmicks to hide. The effect can be performed as a close-up effect, or on the largest stage!

This trick is great for beginners.

I agree with all previous reviews. It's a great trick, very easy to learn and has many different versions of performances. Good for pros and beginners.

There is only one thing I did and would suggest for others. Buy this one for the secret, and once you master it, get a piece of a nice rope and cut your own pieces. The ropes that come in the package are pretty low quality.

But as I said, once you know the secret, you can cut your own "pretty" pieces and have fun.

There aren't too many soild effects that are perfomred by beginners and pros alike. This is one of the few.

Worth far more than the price, put a creative story with this routine and you'll have an effect that people will ask you to repeat. (it happens to me)

It has the elements of great magic: simplicity, true magical effect, creative application, audience interaction (possible but not necessary), totally examinable, instant reset and the old "plays big, packs small".

If you only do one rope effect, this is a top choice.

I absolutely love this effect. It's easy to do. Packs small, plays big (I've performed this outside for an audience of over 100 people at a festival!)

My dad watched the demo video with me a long time ago and his reaction was, "What the H--?!" His initial reaction sold me and I have loved performing this effect all over the place.

And my justification for the ropes: I'm a magician. We do what we want!
Or something more mature like: All the greats used ropes and so I follow in their footsteps.

Or I just perform the routine silently ("Teller" style). Bottom line, great effect!

I have used this trick in my shows for years.....back in the 1970's I discovered it at an amusement park and have been using it ever since. But I was never happy with the ending, even though the ropes could be examined. If you are seriously into rope magic and want this routined with other rope tricks, then you might want to buy this trick and also get "Professor's Nightmare (World's Greastest Magic) - DVD". I recently discovered this DVD with instructions for special endings, and the trick is so much better now.

This was one of those trick I had seen other magicians perform and I had no idea how it was done. I got these ropes purely to learn the secret. However I now find myself performing this trick because it's easy and plays well to audiences (especially children).

I wouldn't get this version if you're a serious rope magician though because the ropes are a little bit cheap looking.

this is the best effect ever for the cheapest prices. i got it when i was just starting and everyone i showed it to thought i was a pro. if you have extra money and you want a very great trick this is it. if you just want to buy it thats fine too. ADD TO CART

This trick is AMAZING! Not only is it inspectable but it gets great reactions and you have about a 1 in 100 chance of the spectator figuring it out! It can be done 20 times in a row without the spectator noticing a thing! ADD TO CART!
