Rick Lax has done it again, this time with "Reverse Psychology." It's a card trick that's not really
a card trick. Yes, it uses cards. But they are personalized in such a way that the suits, colors and
values are neither the focus of the effect nor relevant.
What I like most is how easily
it's personalized. Anybody can make it their own, even with minimal creativity. And there is also
plenty of room for ad-libbing, if that's your gift.
For magicians, buying magic is like
buying an off-the-rack suit--just about everybody does it. But nobody wants it to look that way.
Some effects lend themselves better to tailoring than others, and this is one you can put your name
all over.
Finally, kudos to Rick for giving credit, openly and prominently, to the giants
on whose shoulders this effect stands upon. While he definitely adds something new that is
well-worth the sticker price, he's not shy about giving credit where it's due. And that's refreshing
in today's magic world.

This is a terrific trick for a beginner (like me) and Rick's teaching style is absolutely top notch.
Buy this and you'll be amazing people in no time at all!

I got this trick tonight and tried it out on my wife. She has a very keen eye and is a great lab
partner because she can pick up on things most people won't see (magicians wife syndrome). She was
absolutely baffled as to how I got her to pick the card I wanted! This was literally the first time
I did this trick so I was a little sloppy, but it worked like a charm.
I have been familiar
with this principle, but I haven't had much of a reason to use it in anything that I really do. Rick
is right when he says "it's to magician-y". This does give a plausible reason as well as a fun
reason to break out this effect. I think if you have a few mentalism tricks in your arsenal, this
one will go great as a way to further prove your psychic abilities, but I think this one will also
work great if you use it on its own.
It's almost self working, and instantly resets. You don't
need to be a pro to look great doing it, and if you are a pro, it won't knock you down to looking
amateur. The props take literally 5 minutes to make and pack small
Overall I would recommend it,
it's definitely worth the price. I am excited to get it out into the world and see the amazed looks
on people's faces.

I don't know if he got permission for this from Nick Trost. I assume he did.
If honestly
was important, this should have been marketed as a modified "8 Card Brainwave".
The
modifications have their place, but to me this is a blatant rip-off. The fact he does not show the
routine in the teaser is a red flag. Too many people would recognise it as 8 Card Brainwave.
The trick is based on a classic and is good.

i dont usually write reviews, but i had to for this trick. I'm not writing this because i got this
as an advanced copy, but because it's one of the tricks that are meant for workers. Rick has taken
an old idea and modified it so that it can work in the real world. I used to do this trick, but it
was a pain to carry the cards and people would become kind of sketch when i had no reasoning for why
the cards were that way. Now that rick has updated the handling, safe to say, ill be using this in
my walk around again :)

So I just wanted to let everybody know what I think about this trick... (I got a copy for free
directly from Rick, but this review is unbiased.)
I learned the Olram Subtlety from the
same place Rick did: Michael Ammar's Easy to Master Card Tricks. And personally, I don't feel like
Rick has added much to the plate (He has added one short comment that makes a little bit of a
difference, but only magicians would card about that kind of thing.)
If you are a beginner
and have not learned the Olram Subtlety then I would suggest this trick to you. It is very easy and
can be carried around everywhere.
But, if you are an advanced magician and already know
the Olram Subtlety, this trick is definitely not worth the $14.95 it will be sold for (probably
$9.95 on the Coolbox in the next couple of days).

To begin I want to say I got this as an advanced review copy.... I'm very familiar with the olram
subtlety so I wasn't fooled by it but that's okay cause Rick lax put his own spin on a trick using
this nice subtlety... I also like the verbal/psychological ploys that Rick lax uses on this effect
which makes the trick that much better.
You receive a video that's a little over 28 min and
like usual Rick goes through this trick step by step which anyone will be able to follow. You do
have to make up your own cards for this but that's so easy only took me 5 min to do. what I like is
Rick shows you how he set up his packet of cards which you can do or you can put your own style into
how you make your cards which is nice..I wanna say this trick is almost if not completly self
working but don't let that shy you away from it cause its a nice little routine and your able to
focus on your patter and presentation skills.
Is it worth the money you may ask well I'd say
yes it's definitely worth every cent c'mon it's Rick lax were talking about he has always put out
solid working routines! Once again I was not dissapointed by Rick lax and I feel as though everyone
will enjoy this and it's fun to perform at the same time!!! Thanks again Rick for another solid and
workable routine you never dissapoint

Rick has done it again! His explanation is clear as he expertly covers methods and the "whys" of
every piece of the routine. I love that I can now re-use a well-proven sleight in what appears to be
a whole new trick. After viewing this once, my mind is already filled with ideas for tailoring the
trick to my personality.

I've already saw this concept with the Olram subtlety, but I really like the psychologic approach.
People feels that you play with their minds and this is what you want with this effect.

As always, Rick's magic & teaching are incredible! Very detailed & innovative! Also, this effect is
very easy to do & is so much better than the original effect that this is based on. I highly
recommend this to anyone who loves great magic & even better presentation.
