I normally do not post reviews (for anything) but I had to chime in here. This lecture was very difficult to watch due to Justin's personality. He comes across as pompous and arrogant. He might not be pompous and arrogant at all, but he comes off that way, and it only worked against him. He seemed aggravated at times when the audience was actually making suggestions to improve his own tricks. The one trick where the torn corner is in the spectator's hands was billed by Miller himself as one of the greatest things his friend ever saw, however, it was a mess of a trick in terms of premise, and the audience let him know this. Why Miller is teaching magic when he himself can't understand when an effect is flawed indicates to me that the blind might be starting to lead the blind in magic, and this is a scary thing for our art.

the bad project Report this review

...the worst 'mentalism' lecture i've had the displeasure to watch thus far...jittery, zero presentation, and then what is presented here is everything you wouldn't want a mentalist to do...his interview was interesting and he's obviously had a lot to deal with in life, and good on him for coming through the other side...he was a creative and interesting magician and i he finds a way to create and express himself in a different outlet...

Mentalist is not so easy Report this review

I bought it by curiosity as Justin was a prolific magicians with some good ideas.
Unfortunaly his good magician thinking doesn't makes him a mentalist...
His ideas are not good and his presentation is "TADA magic" and not at all mentalism...

Worst Lecture of the series Report this review

Sorry but this has to be the most disappointing lecture of the series, the routines were lame and Mr Miller was most condescending and patronizing to both Dan and the audience, total disappointment!!

Justin performs really dull mentalism which has no meaning and drive at all. Buy the Jan Forster lecture instead. Way much better.

Hard to watch Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on September 25th, 2016
I was interested in as I saw that Justin Miller shows mentalism close-up, but what I saw was hard to watch and very disappointing. I know Justin Miller as creative magician but this lecture was the best excample for the differnce between magic and mentalism. The presentation was sloppy even for a magician but in mentalism? No way! The principles behind these effects are typical "magic solutions" that seems fishy in mentalism or just uninteresting for the premise of beliavable and entertaining mentalism.
Cobbler, stick to your last.

Disappointing in Method, Presentation, and Teaching Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on July 2nd, 2017
There seems to be a lot of praise for some of Justin's magic products, so when I heard that this lecture was going to be mentalism only I was a little apprehensive.

I would not recommend this lecture for a professional mentalist, or even suggest it to someone just looking into mentalism.

Justin comes off as arrogant. He constantly makes fun of a young audience member throughout the lecture. His methods to make things look less like "magic" are awful.

The Bad:
- F.A.T.E. claims to be not a force; except to get to the predicted outcome you have to force the situation to get there.
- Envy claims to be a routine where you never touch the envelopes; and although that's technically true, if you want to present it in the same way as Justin you're going to have to get hands on and slap the envelopes out of someone hands. The method was fine, however the presentation rubbed me the wrong way.
- Mental-Drop has the worst equivoque I've ever seen in a magic trick. I say magic trick because this is one of Justin's tricks where he tried to give a mentalism spin to it. Personally, just do C-Drop as the presentation doesn't add anything to it.
- Pure thought has a nice ending up until the very end. Someone thinks of a card, the mentalist reads their mind to work out what it is and takes it out of the pack face down. They reveal their card and then show that the other cards in the pack were blank but not only that the card they took out was blank as well. So... uh... what was the point in the cards? Surely, a better trick is that final card matches the one they thought of? Apparently not as Justin claims this is stronger but he's wrong.
- Writing on the wall was confusing and felt like it was glossed over quickly. It was also completely forgettable because I can't even remember what the trick was about.

The OK:
- A peek in time is alright. Justin claimed that it flys by people but I found that what he did was fairly obvious.
- Lie or Truth felt like a standard presentation for a typical mentalism prop and not much had been added by Justin.
- UTOPIA is a nice way to force something, and is perhaps one of Justin's better creations in this lecture.

The Good:
- The one time where an audience member makes a suggestion for one of his tricks which was pretty good. Where's that guy's lecture?

Overall, this lecture was incredibly disappointing, in method, presentation, and teaching. Give this one a miss.

This is the worst lecture I’ve ever seen. Justin Miller doesn’t know anything about mentalism. He’s also very unprepared. He doesn’t know how to treat people either. He should read some books on mentalism by the the likes of Peter Turner, Luke Jermay, Banachek, Jose Prager. Just to name a few. I can’t imagine him being very much accepted in the magic community with this egotistical attitude he has. Also all of his “tricks” have no rhyme or reason. Why would you take a post it off the pad then stick it on a wallet only to remove it from the wallet??? What’s the justification? Anyway. Worst lecture ever. Peace!

I don't have the same emotional issues surrounding JM's work.
I will say he's a more original magician than he is a mentalist.
It's unfortunate that I can't really recommend this to beginners because there are so many other better lectures available, (like Eugene burger's or Bob Cassidy's) nor could I recommend this to more experienced mentalist(where Jan Forester or Marc Paul would have more advanced thinking to share)
There are a couple good magic tricks in here. But better investments elsewhere.
