"I've fooled a lot of great sleight-of-hand card magicians with this trick." -Pierric, FISM Grand Prix Champion Magician

The 2015 FISM Grand Prix Champion Magician, "Pierric" has been performing magic at the VERY highest levels. Today, he's finally teaching his reputation-making card routine SLICE. Perfected over years of live performances, he's kept it secret as his "magician-fooler."

Is it a stunt? Is it a skill? Or is it pure magic? No matter how you slice it, FISM winner Pierric's SLICE is a reputation making effect.

Slice is a card effect that will play for virtually any size audience and the method is completely fool-proof. A card is lost in the deck and like an expert marksman you throw a card and penetrate the deck at the exact position of their selected card.

No card throwing skills needed
No difficult moves
The method makes this incredible looking effect extremely easy.

This is a stunning effect that is an audience favorite taught by a pro who knows how to entertain an audience.

NOTE: This product requires something that most magicians already own. Something which costs less than $6.00 in the off-chance you don't own it.

Ok. This fooled the crap out of me. Then I saw the solution. Now I’m just plain angry at myself. LOL

What a great trick! You really do throw a card into the deck and you really do land that card right beside the selected card. 100% of the time. What’s more, with the exception of the extreme beginner, there pretty is nothing to really learn. You have to know how the gimmick and, no, the trick doesn’t come with it. But chances are, if you’ve done magic more than a month, you have this gimmick already. It might even be one you don’t use anymore. (It was my first real gimmick) If you don’t, the gimmick is cheap and very common. It’ll be easy to find this whereever there’s isn’t magic sold. (Um. Like Penguin duh) If you’re new, then you’ll need to buy it. But you’ll want to anyway. So don’t let that stop you from purchasing this trick.

The solution is crazy stupid simple. Wear a helmet when you watch the explanation, because, like me, you will experience a slight concussion as you bang your head against the wall when you wonder how the solution escaped your creative genius too. This is seriously like one of the easiest tricks you’ll ever perform. Bu that doesn’t mean it is a low quality trick. By no means. This will wow your spectators. Think of it as you’re investing in a penny stock but that penny stock grows into Amazon. That’s the return you’ll get for this tiny effort.

Is this a trick or a stunt? It smells more like an act of extreme skill to me... however, finding the exact card? every time? This is a magical stunt.

Don’t worry. You don’t have to know how to throw cards (though it would be an impressive skill to learn. This would be a perfect closer if you did have a card throwing act). Trust me. Easy peasy.

This trick is well worth every penny. The fact that it’s so simple is a plus. (Sometimes people feel cheated when they pay for a solution that isn’t super simple. I say all the more reason to pay more for it if it’s something that can be done with less effort and skill)

I’m giving this 4 stars out of 5. 5 I reserve for mind melting visual magical magic. So in my book, this trick is getting top scores for the type of trick it is. To be honest though, tricks like this make me think I should rethink my 5 star visual magic only policy. We’ll see. For now, just see this trick as a MUST BUY rating from me.

I do wish he showed the boomerang card in detail. That’s woukd have really completed this. But great trick. Simply great.

Here are some Q and A...

Easy? Yes
Gimmick? Included? Gimmick yes. Not included. But most magicians have this or at least should have at one point or another.
Arts and crafts? No. (Unless you want to make your own gimmick. But unnecessary)
Sleights? No. You just need to know how to use the gimmick. Easy.
Borrowed deck? No.
Examineable deck? No. But if you present this right, the spectators should have no reason to want to inspect it. You can always use a deck switch if you need to.
Just like the demo? Yup. Exactly.
Any prep? Nope.
Angles? Nope. The only time you might be a little careful is when you are shuffling and flashing the deck to show that it is indeed a deck of unique cards and not something tricky. Even that, it’s nit really a worry.
Repertoire worthy? Yup.
Teaching quality? A+ to Pierric as usual.
Practice? Always. Even though this is simple, you still want to be familiar with the handling as well as your own presentation. Practicing is NOT necessary to do this trick. But if you pride yourself in your craft, no one can tell you to not practice.
Get it? Heck yes.

By the way, I always try to be honest and straightforward in my reviews, while being respectful to the magician. If you appreciate my reviews, can you please click the "Yes" button below beside the question, "Did this review help you?" It's not like I actually benefit in any way by your clicking it... but it would be nice to see if my reviews are helpful or not. I hope they are. If you ever have suggestions or comments or questions about my reviews, please feel free to leave me a constructive comment. I'm just trying to be helpful. I love the Penguin community and hope that I can someday contribute my own product. :-) Thanks for reading and for any (hopefully positive, but either way, at least kind) feedback.

This is a classic effect which has been around for many years, but this spin on it makes it accessible to people at every skill level.

Well taught, easy to do, and something your spectators will remember and attibute you with great skill for. You don’t need to throw the card into the deck, but this will inspire you to practice doing so!

I love how this trick makes use of an old principle but uses it in a whole new way. Totally off the radar and totally on target.

Slice has got to be the easiest effect with the biggest reaction. Like others here have said, you can begin performing in about 20 minutes. It'll take a little practice, but that's the fun part. It won't take long to master it. It takes a little something that most magicians already have and it's a great usage for that something. Get this because you'll be fooling magicians with it.

The trick is easy to do including the throwing. The hit is 100%. This is one of the best tricks I have seen in the past 12 months. Fantastic concept and well taught. Video is under 20 min and that is MORE than you need. Awesome!

This is a ‘winner’ 5+ Report this review

Like they say in the ad - is this a magic effect, skill or a stunt? It’s all of that and more. This is a really strong effect, everything looks and is very fair and you are totally clean at the end. All you use is a deck of cards, a Joker, some practice and you are ready to go and amaze your audience - close-up, parlor or stage. Yes, you will need a 'little something' and you may already have that ‘something’ but if you don’t it is easily accessible. Don’t worry no arts and crafts, glue or anything to make. When you find out the secret, you will probably say something like “are you serious”. I did! It is diabolical and very creative. Sometimes one one the simplest things can be so dramatic, you won’t believe the results.

There is no difficult or elaborate slights to learn other than practicing how to throw a card. Don’t worry, Pierric does a great job of teaching you and it is not as hard as you may think, it is more theatrical than hard.
Pierric ends the tutorial with some tips that will allow you a couple of variations. Please know that it is immediately repeatable but for different spectators … however there is a way around this that will be obvious once you know the secret.

As a performer your task is to entertain and amaze your audience but feel free to fool other Magicians if that is your thing as you will definitely do so. You will not only fool your audience but make a name for yourself with this effect. Thank you Pierric for releasing this, it IS a reputation maker. Don’t miss out on this one, definitely a great buy.

Great idea and premise. Report this review

This is a great over all trick. However I will say it is always a little disappointing when they say “have something almost magicians already have ready”. This particular supply I don’t have and so will need to buy it ( not expensive and it has many uses and possibilities- just never got one). But down side is until I get said thing, I won’t be able to perform the trick.
That said- if you do have the supplies, which most magicians probably do have at least one or more of them... it is super easy and super great new idea on an old premise.
