I bought this based solely on the description. I did not even watch the trailer. It just sounded like a cool trick. I love this. It really does sound and look like you have dislocated your middle finger; however it does not "feel" like you have as it doesn't hurt (I know that is not what the ad copy meant, but just in case someone does...). Also, I learned this routine after watching the video once. It is very easy to learn. Of course, it will still require some practice, but you will still understand the mechanics of Breaking Point very quickly. I would also add that the spectators' reactions in the trailer are genuine.

My presentation for this is talking about how (supposedly) Houdini had to dislocate his shoulders to escape from a straight jacket, and likewise in order for me to do sleight of hand I need to dislocate my finger.

I just started learning this effect, and for starters, it took me just 10 minutes to master the bone cracking sound. Now I'm practicing the entire routine and can't wait to present it!

Johannes is an excellent instructor and he's been doing this effect for years. He takes you slowly and clearly through all the moves, knows all the the right moves and patter, and he adds performance tips to insure that you'll really amaze and impact your audience.

The best part of this routine is that if you have two hands, you can take the effect anywhere and perform it instantly at any time. There's no setup, and there are absolutely NO bad angles!

I also had a couple of questions, emailed Johannes for advice and received the help I needed in just a few hours! He also provides a Bonus instructional video that's going to take me to an even higher level.

I can't wait till I polish my performance and start stunning my audience!

Before to buy it I contacted Penguin to make sure it could be done with any type of fingers. I drilled it and rewatched the video over and over and got it down. I fooled my wife and my son (magician). I performed it for real people and the reactions are completly different than with any other type of tricks. Nothing in the preview is edited or exagerated. It's to the point.

Love the explanation video from Johannes. It's a complete worker. You can carry it with you even if you're naked! I always carry my hands with me. You can use them for the rest of this lifetime! Loved it. May the magic stay with you! Crepmaster ;)

I am not a fan of body magic at all. Breaking point is an excellent trick. I work in the emergency medical field and the joint pop sound has blown by my co workers. The unnatural bending of the finger looks awesome and has great angles. This is a great anytime anywhere miracle.

Some people have been giving this a hard time criticizing the video quality and how the trick isn't shown much just the reactions and some
People even commented on his hair..... who cares. This is A GREAT EFFECT and you can walk up to anyone and immediately have it to show them and even start a conversation that leads to more magic. He genuinely cares about this effect and wants who he's teaching to care the same way. He gives a full one on one view just him in the tutorial then explains each phase. And there may or may not be something a little extra he teaches you. I turned to someone next to me and asked if he had a faint heart or was squeamish and then like 8 others tuned it I performed the trick and watched their faces cringe and then launched into the ring thing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Honestly I was skeptical of this when I purchased it from Penguin. I'm a long time customer and a few of my recent purchases have been a disappointment just from misleading trailers. I've actually lost interest in one of my previous favorite creators because of this (dont worry...I wont name them, just being honest)
BUT JOHANNES DOES NOT DO THIS AT ALL!! WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET!!
An amazing display of body manipulation that is seemingly impossible and so freakish everyone will be gasping. Some complaints are how long winded he is, but I'm honestly appreciative of this because he covers every possible detail and scenario. Theres no gimmicks, 100% impromptu, it will take some practice, but I assure you the reactions are worth it. I also have to mention this is totally pain free and since Johannes himself didnt advertise it, I will...you also get 2 other body manipulation techniques as bonuses!! He responded to my email within hours and seems like one of the nicest and honest guys in the magic community I've ever come across...very honest and sincere in wanting to help you be the best magician possible. By far one of my favorite purchases considering all of this.
With all of that said, the techniques are fairly simple, you will just need to practice with a mirror or a friend to get the moves down and let me repeat...THERE ARE NO GIMMICKS NOR ANY BAD ANGLES IF DONE PROPERLY. He has footage where he is surrounded performing the effects and he actually has to "open up" so you can even see what's actually going on. I honestly did have to pause, rewind, reposition, try again a few times until I actually understood wth was going on!! :) Now I'm sorry, but that's pretty impressive to have to do in a tutorial (not just show another angle so you can see)

I would honestly give this 10 stars if I could and I feel like I got a steal for his insight on this subject for the price. If you're into this sort of thing it's a must buy...hands down!!

Excellent -- love the approach to teaching, including covering of details, the bonus material, and the lifetime internet support. For this, I would give it ten stars out of five!

Contrary to the opinion that a "3 minute" video would have sufficed for most magicians, I can appreciate the value of the details presented -- precisely because I have spent many years on magic. It would take one a great deal of thought and many performances to identify and address various nuances of performing Breaking Point -- but the teaching has addressed these nuances.

One star is taken away because the material is incomplete in three respects:

1) I could grasp the thinking behind the marketing video only after reading Johannes explanation at the magic café forum -- would be good to have that explanation in the product's blurb and in the video.

2) I had to create a .xspf playlist of bookmarks to be able to jump to different parts of the main and bonus videos. Would be good if such a file was part of the product.

3) Parts of the video have background music. Thankfully, the important parts do not have background music. Would have liked to get a version without background music.

I think it was just as advertised. A relatively simple and effective trick using no props, except for you.

Johannes does a very thorough job of explaining the effect throughout the video and shares a lot of real-world reactions as well as some variations of the effect.

It is clear from listening to him in his explanation that he has a real passion for the art of magic and performing. The tips that he offers are invaluable for the beginner and amateur.

He is also way more receptive to his customers than almost any other magician that I have heard of. He offers e-mail support for his products and is very responsive to questions.

Overall, Breaking Point is well worth the price ( you get way more than you actually pay for).
