I like this version of the Triumph scenario, but I'm less enthusiastic about his suggested
presentation. And that's fine: I'll just come up with my own, something with a catchier hook and a
greater sense of magicality and drama. Point is: buy this for the mechanics, do what you will with
it -- which is always the way it is anyway, for many of us. I gave it a 4 because it seems a bit
high in price for what you're getting. A tag of 5.95 or 6.95 seems more reasonable to me.

Really explained well and no slight of hand needed. Works well after a couple of time of practicing.
Great effect.

I don't review many things, and it's especially weird to review a download I haven't purchased yet,
but... this effect has appeared in a few of Bannon's books/reprints (previously titled "Play It
Straight Triumph") and also his DVD Bullets After Dark. And yet I'm tempted to buy it again, just to
see if there are any new touches presented here. It's one of the first few effects I ever learned,
and the only one that I still constantly return to; I dare say it's easily the best Triumph routine
of the dozen or so I've seen or learned.
It's so easy that I was doing it before I could
even shuffle cards gracefully, and the presentation even loans itself to a bit of clumsiness with
the right patter. ("I'm not very good with cards, and I learned there are a few ways to shuffle...
here's one... here's another way...") But the revelation, which can be presented as an
out-of-nowhere kicker after a joke or seeming mistake, has never failed to shock and delight.
The only negatives are a small setup (in an otherwise normal deck)... and the possibility that
you will be too spoiled to appreciate any card tricks you learn after this one. (Well, to be fair:
without a table, you might not get much out of the revelation, which will by far look best spread
wide in front of you.) You might consider it a negative that the effect is available in other
collections that are well worth owning; but if you are going to study Bannon (and you should, if you
like cards), this is a great place to start.

I do not do magic for living. I do it because I am fascinated with it. Now you understand that I
cannot do sleight of hand because I do not spend time practising (apart from work I have also
another hobby that is time consuming). Thus I am always looking for tricks that are not only
self-working but also require little to no preparation. At the same time the ones that are flexible
to fit my presentation style - always impromptu, casual, like nothing is happening, just an ordinary
deck of cards...
The shuffle order and turning the stacks require practice, for some reason
I tended to miss one turnover, that of course was spoiling the effect. Said that I was ready within
an hour and tested that twice on two differenf family members. My wife who hates magic was
impressed, and my son (adult, BTW) later sent me a meme with exploding head. Neatly presented it has
WOW effect.

Instead of chasing every new sleight or trick that comes out I've finally decided to stick to
certain criteria- cards (or rubber bands), full deck, can be done with a borrowed deck (so no, you
can't be sure you can faro), and preferably simple, so I can enjoy the people and the presentation.
That moves John Bannon into the top 3, and this trick meets those criteria...including being REALLY
GOOD. Great instruction, well structured, and most importantly fun for you AND your audience. Very
happy with this, you should check it out.

a little practice with the presentation is all that is needed to make this effect very smooth. The
presentation and patter make the trick work as the technique is very simple and requires no
sleights, but you do need to be casual in your handling and smooth in your patter so it seems
totally unrehearsed and natural for all actions performed... you want the audience to feel as if
your actions are really irrelevant and almost negligent for the best results. This is a great
effect! Fast and easy reset with just a little planning. I will be using it ad-hoc within other
effects to enhance the surprise. I can see several variations that would allow the Bannon Triumph to
be used as a reveal method for several different routines, including one where I don't have to ask
the suit and which could immediately be repeated with a different suit, with or without a
combination effect to go with it.

The reactions are even better than I ever expected

I learnt this on John's bullet party dvd and I love it. I made a story about suits being like
families but one of them goes missing, the rest come together to find him/her. Set to the titanic
music - sorted.
