I’ve been doing magic for almost 20 years now and have had many different mats. Different brands,
sizes, colors, etc… my very first mat that is also almost 20 years old is all cover with stains and
been traveling with me everywhere while being rolled up and is still in awesome condition. I bought
this so called “professional close up mat” few months ago and after having it in my case rolled up
top layer stared to peel off after only couple of shows. Now it’s all bubbling and doesn’t look
professional at All. I wish I could remember the brand of my old mat so I could buy few more and not
this crap.

The mat is amazing quality is is perfect for practice at home. My only mistake was that I didn't
realize how large 16x23 really was. But the bigger the mat is, the more space you have to practice.
The two pads I currently use are this mat in 16x23 and the three way mirror by Sean Yang when
travelling. If the mat gets dirty, you can always wipe it down by hand which is a plus. Great
quality overall.

The quality of the mat is awesome, however, the SMELL is STRONG like being inside a firestone
manufacturing plant. I aired it for literally two weeks..outside in the elements rain and all..
Still has an odor of tire. I don't know how its made but like I said the quality of material is good
but be prepared for the smell...sorry :/

Assez grand il est parfait pour moi!!
Perfect! Great quality and lots of room to perform.
Like someone else said, air this thing out
for a few days bc it stinks like a rubber factory.
Packaging was bad. Some parts of the product on the way were damaged.
It is still gorgeous
considering the price performance. I love it ...
This is a great close-up mat! It has plenty of cushion for card and coin work. The top surface is
smooth, and the bottom is rubber to keep the mat from sliding. Penguin shipped it to flat (as
opposed to rolling it up in a tube), and this meant it arrived without any curves or creases to sort
out. They even sent me a video showing them preparing my order for shipment! Penguin has set the bar
high for all their competition. I’ve been a pro since 1990, and Penguin has earned my business.
This is the first close up mat I've ever owned. Performing impromptu magic at dinners, family
gatherings dictated I use what's at hand, place settings , napkins etc. Using the close up mat for
practice I find it inherently satisfying. In a coins across routine the coins slide better and seem
easier to pick up. Visually appealing as the silver coins really stand out against the black mat and
inexplicably sound better, they ring when dropped together. Works great with my cups & balls routine
also. I enjoy using this mat and hope to use it in a planned performance.
It was out of stock for a LONG TIME. I finally was able to order it. I'm a new amateur but I love
the mat. The cards spread sooooo well on this mat. OK I love this mat !!!
