Great gimmick, I use it all the time. The only thing is, is that it doesn't tell you how to store it
properly. I've gone through 2 markers and they run out so quickly, but it was because of how I was
storing them. You NEED to remove the cap that comes with mental pen, and place a real genuine cap on
it without the gimmick when you're not using it. Keep the trick cap somewhere safe. Otherwise, your
sharpies will run out of ink during a show like what happened to me, and it'll be really
embarrassing.

Don't have it yet... however! I pre ordered it , i know how this works up and down. Already have
watched the explanation. I made something similar to this that CRISS ANGEL actually teaches in his
volumes back in the day. The best thing about this is you have no worries about switching and the
spectator does everything FOR YOU. Literally, EVERYTHING, you dont do anything. Not like psypher,
steam, a mental wallet of any kind. This is in its own utility device of mentalism that you can do
so much with the Mental Pen. You also get a DOWNLOAD PDF of that VOODO shirt that once you receive
the product the video included should have a PDF download link of the graphic, take that to any
place, buy a solid color shirt and then bam! You're good to go. Voodo is the best one in my book and
you can of course make your own routines. I will update my review when I receive this for sure and
let you know how it plays out compared to what I created similar concept in the past.

Wow! This is a modern version of a really old mentalism utility gimmick, straight out of Annemann.
And it is brilliant. Simply brilliant. It solves the problem of switching out Sharpies so that you
can just do the routine simply and cleanly. As Joao says, it may be the only utility where the
spectator actually unwittingly resets the gimmick for you. With it you can work minor miracles.
Now some of you are thinking, this thing is a $39.95 Sharpie! Yes, but when you see the
precision manufacturing of the gimmick--and you get two spares--you'll see that these must've be a
b**** to custom manufacture. If your Sharpie dries up, throw it away, get a new one, use the
gimmick, and you are set. This should last you forever.
Again, perhaps this is not a
duffer's tool, but rather a handcrafted item for professionals. Every mentalist needs one. It is
superb and sure to become a classic.

Been doing walkaround table magic for years, after an injury i've decided to branch out into Mental
magic, I think I will use this pen lots, It looks good, easy to use, etc..

The pen works as advertised, and the gimmick is well-designed and visually undetectable. I had no
concerns about my participants discovering the secret.
The main advantage of the pen, the
entire selling point really, is that the participant un-gimmicks the pen herself without the
magician touching the prop. This "proves" that the pen is normal, and it is convincing.
Two
drawbacks.
First, the pen must begin in a gimmicked state, which means you can't openly use
it to write prior to the secret work. This is contra the design of most effects, where the proving
happens before the dirty work, not after. This drawback can be mitigated through some subtleties,
but nevertheless purchasers should be aware of the limitation.
Second, the reset is a
hassle. It can't be done openly and there's a (small) chance of losing track of the gimmick during
the operation due to human error. Three gimmicks are supplied, I suspect, in anticipation of this
eventuality. By contrast, routines using a simple pen s****h have the luxury of an instant reset.
In sum, you are purchasing a well-made convincer. For me, simply using two pens remains the
more practical option in most circumstances.

I think the gimmick is honestly vert clever and it works very effectively- it also comes with 2
spares in case you lose the piece (it is small and can be easy to lose if you're not careful.
I think it's a very effective device and the tricks that he suggests work very well. I
couldn't give it 5 stars as the way you have to store the gimmick before the trick is very awkward
and it feels like it might dry out the pen.
Still, very good. Can't wait to see more.

I'm really happy with this purchase. There are so many new routines possible with this gimmick, as
well as ways to enhance your existing material. I've already used it as a force for Chaptrick, and
have also thought of a way to use it as an opener for Craig Petty's "Chop."
What I like
most about it is it's simplicity. I love performing magic, but as a hobbyist, often struggle with
approach. The effects possible with this gimmick will make it so much easier to begin a close-up or
street performance because as it says, the spectator does almost all of the work and the gimmick is
so clever I doubt will be noticed by more than a few, and likely not anyone. So, the opening to my
routines will be no-worry, no-hassle mental effects that act as great segues into more complicated
material.
If you're ready for something new and SUPER easy, this is a strong option for
you! Thanks Mr. Miranda and Mr. Sereno!

Well, I have been keeping Mental Pen to use for a certain card trick and when I finally pulled it
out to use, the gimmick shattered into dust (I took a picture), now I’m wondering about the other
two … they appear to be 3D-printed and I guess they just dry out and crumple … anyone else have this
problem?
