drawing-duplication
mentalism

Chris Rawlins is back with an offbeat and amazing solution to the classic drawing duplication. As in the classic effect, someone is invited to walk away from the group and draw any shape or thing she likes. You are able to duplicate what she drew with uncanny accuracy.

What makes this cool and so very different from what has come before is that you are NOT glimpsing information and then re-drawing it. You are not FORCING the spectator to draw something predetermined. Nor do you rely on any kind of pre-show at all. Instead, you rely on something so basic but also so unsuspecting that we think this will fool you. It fooled us! What you see in the trailer is EXACTLY what it looks like in real life. Nothing has been doctored or left out.

The DVD teaches the entire routine, which is easy to perform and easy to make.

Running time: 20 minutes

You need to build your gimmck Report this review

This was very creative and had a very original approach, this would be great for someone who is needing a way to do a drawing duplication and doesn't know any. THAT SAID, this will require you to build a gimmick that will certainly be an additional expense. One item that Chris recommends using to make the gimmick will cost you $20 on Penguin. Also the trick is not 100% sure fire. It will hit probably hit 70-80% of the time. The more you know.....

clever use of an old principle Report this review

This idea combines two basic concepts, one of which has been used for drawing predictions before (I first saw it in a Bob Cassidy product, but it may be a lot older than that). The other is fairly obvious from the title. The ideas shared by Luke Jermay after the basic instruction are very valuable and they will help to really get the mind working.

This will not work with index cards. You need either business cards (glossy both sides) or double-blank playing cards. I tried with index cards and there's just too much paper texture to spread smoothly.

Overall, this is one that you will have to assemble yourself, but it isn't a terribly difficult job. I would also customize the list of possible drawings to reflect your local likely choices. There are also ways you can narrow the possibilities by what you tell your participant. "Imagine you were in 3rd grade and the teacher passed out paper for art time. Think of what you would have drawn on that paper."

I don't think this is for everyone, but I do think it is a very useful idea.
