Occiput is a different type of card effect for your spectators.
You take out all the court cards and show your spectators that some of the court cards look to the left, some of them look to the right. You can then have one of your spectators shuffle up the court cards and then YOU can separate the cards into those that look to the left in one pile and those that look to the right in another pile. You explain to your spectators that you are doing this simply by touch alone however, the method/secret is actually incredibly simple and you'll be able to perform this within 10 minutes of learning how it's done.

Simple but genius. Report this review

I had a theory before purchasing this, but boy I was wrong. The mechanics behind the trick are not hard but it's your presentation that really sells the effect. I've been more and more interested in storytelling style effects lately and this is a perfect fit. For the price and impact of this effect, you really can't knock on it for much. My only complaint might be that the focus on the camera isn't the best. But it really doesn't need to be. A very well thought out effect by Pilcher.

Novel Addition Report this review

I have collected a very rich set of court card effects. Such cards offer opportunities that number cards don't-in my view, because court cards have people on them, thus lending greater opportunities to explain their 'behavoirs'. More, court cards are simply more visually interesting. Antique decks from Europe have such cards as full blown works of art. Now, this effect by Matt Pilcher, capitalizes on the quirk of 4 court cards that look in a direction that the other 8 don't. Something which I never thought twice about. This quirk is now presentable as an actual effect. It could stand on it's own- but I see adding it to my repertoire of court card effects. Simply I love the novelty of it! I Had the same positive response to Dan Haus's Sleeping Queen. Matt's m.o. here will be familiar in a general sense. Nonetheless, the how within the how, is quite helpful and has additional applications. Spectators won't know how this mystery is accomplished. It's one of those 'wish I'd thought of it' effects.
A novel and very unique little effect. And...easy to make and perform. Well shot and explained.

Paying for Ads Report this review

The method here is exactly what you think it is and took Matt less than a sentence to explain, and you don't need to pay to see it. The first 4+ minutes of the video are ads for Matt's other products. Matt is a talented creator and I would have been happy to watch that for free, but now I'm just annoyed I had to pay for it. I hope this isn't a trend in instructional videos.
