What I like about the CCC is it is visual, not too difficult to perform and the audience knows
what's about to happen yet you make it happen - magically.
You need to supply your own chinese
coins and ribbon.
The teaching is top notch plus you get bonus moves from Apollo Robbins and
Shoot Ogawa.
This is a good worker effect. Combine it with a magical production of the chinese
coins, and a vanish of the chinese coins at the end, and you have a complete close-up act. Highly
recommended.

Effect 3/4 The effect stunned me when i first heard of it. right then and there, i knew i HAD TO
HAVE IT! But when i saw it i was like "oh cool" it might have been how boring it was to watch troy
perform it with his soft voice that you need to turn up the volume to hear. Its a little dry and you
will need to add your own little touches to it. but he performs it with them one by one falling off
the ribbon and maybe a line or two. but please dont let this discourage you.
Layout of the
DVD 4/4 I rarely see a DVD that is as well layed out as this one. He brings you into the studio of
Bob Kohler magic to explain and layout each phase of the routine as well as hardcore handling tips
and everything you need to know to perform this like its hot. he starts with the performance, then
the introduction to the props and everything, then first second and third explanations, then the
other tips and eveything from apollo, shoot, and thomas wayne, who wasnt even in the dvd at all
which really dissapointed me.
The Teaching 4/4 Troy Hooser really astonished me with this
teaching. Professional, intact, coordinated, perfectly scripted, and he doesent studder or trip over
his words or even think about what hes gunna say before he does it. he teaches very good. have you
ever seen a performer who teaches something with rope or something and you see all the colors clash
and it looks tangled and you cant follow along?? this worried me because i though he wouldnt let me
actually view the ribbon or anything. i thought i wouldnt be able to see it. none of this. its
actually very clean. theres no odd turning or moving of the ribbon. its all ver straight.
Overall 4/4 This dvd was a good buy for me. Oh and if you buy this dvd, be sure to pick up some
chinese coins and maybe a coin purse to carry it in. i actually use washers because my patter
requires it. and if you buy the dvd, walmart sells quarter inch silk ribbon and personally cuts it
by the yard (which is exactly what you need) for 97 cents. But it was a definet good buy for me and
i lok forward to buying destroyers, shellraiser, silver surf and the other things from him. Buy it
now!

Troy Hooser's Charming Chinese Challenge is very elegant looking. The dvd is shot well and he
provides plenty of instruction regarding the effect. The only reason I gave it 4 stars had to do
with the sound. It is very low at points and you have to strain to hear him.

great effect but I liked the original video better. bought this years ago. just rediscovered and
couldnt find my password for the original video so I ordered this dvd. its good but wish I could get
original video.
I learned and have performed this wonderful coin trick, regularly after seeing it at a magic
convention several years ago. It is extremely deceptive and is not terribly difficult to do if the
practice time is put in (as in any trick we buy and choose to perform). My point is, this trick
flows seamlessly from one phase into the next. It flows perfectly. Each phase is as strong or
stronger than the previous one and ends with the last coin magically transported into the
spectator's hand with the first two coins. If you enjoy great coin routines you can't miss with Mr.
Hooser's creation.
This video is very good for beginners, like me. I've always loved the Charming Chinese Challenge.
Everything happens directly in front of the spectator. and Apollo slight details are very
informative. can't wait to amaze people with this piece of Magic. Still have a little bit to come up
with my own twist. Practice! Practice! Practice! Thank you Penguin Magic, and Troy Hooser.
I really enjoy this DVD.I feel good about investing in it.I got my money's worth and that is a good
feeling
What I like about this trick is no matter what country I happen to be in,I will
always be able to find a ribbon and 4 chinese coins
You will be able to do this trick
almost surrounded and the audience can inspect everything. This trick does not require you to be
highly skill master of slieght of hand
Again I am happy happy I decided.Please don't get
this DVD because I want this trick all for myself.Hee hee just kidding
This routine is a true worker. If you perform strolling magic then you know what I mean. This is a
solid multiphase routine that gets more and more impossible. Troy does an excellent job teaching
each phase step-by-step. He also offers alternative handlings to other phases. What's also great is
that guest contributors offer alternative phases. You will need a ribbon and some chinese coins to
perform this, but think of the coins as an investment as they can be used in many other routines.
This is specifically about the Apollo variation. It is a good trick. But the explanation isn't. The
supposedly hidden coin is visible during Apollo's instructions. I also found that I needed a heavier
coin than in the Hooser version.

I loved the routine and the teaching. Troy while very dry is thankfully very thorough and teaches
every aspect of the routine well. My only problem is that it should have come with the props.
Nobody likes to buy a trick that requires them to go shopping before they can practise it.
