Sure you may already do some of these effects but do you have a great "Comedy Routine"? That is what this DVD is all about, making your audiences fall out of their seats laughing while bending their little minds with unforgettable magic. You'll learn:

REGIFTED: A hilarious cut and restored man's necktie effect. This is perfect for formal banquet settings and is truly one of the funniest routines you will ever do. An audience member's necktie is accidentally and visibly cut in half leaving the magician in an impossible predicament. It's hard to find a funnier moment in a banquet show and there is nothing but astonishment when the tie is restored. This is the trick they'll talk about after the show.

THE NO SWITCH COIN IN THE BOTTLE: A platform coin in bottle effect that literally uses no switch. Read that again. A coin is borrowed, the date is noted, it is slammed into the bottle. That simple. Even though the coin is too big to fit through the opening, it slides out without any of the jerky moves and is handed back to the spectator. The magician starts clean and ends clean.

THE INVISIBLE SWITCH SILK TO EGG: Yes, it's the same silk to egg trick but with a switch that is way too easy and will fool everybody. You're going to want to do this at every show.

BURNT BILL IN WALLET: Performance only with personal tips and patter. A classic.

ARM CHOPPER: The gags, the jokes, the disgusting story. It will leave your audience in stitches.

ONE DAY IN MIAMI: This is Matt's closer. In the course of a very funny story, three items vanish and reappear instantly. This is a brainstorming segment where the viewer is encouraged to create a similar but unique effect of his own. It's hard to follow this routine with anything.

THE CARD DUCK: Matt discusses his platform comedy card duck effect as well as how and why he performs it this way. The effect ends with a powerful kick with a marked card. Some basic card skills are required.

THE CHINESE STICKS: Performance and ridiculous patter only.

LET'S NOT FORGET COMEDY ROUTINES FOR KIDS

THE MUTILATED PARASOL: A hilarious routine where everything goes wrong. A major improvement: an easy switch using classic misdirection leaves the top of the umbrella in the kids hand! If you do shows with large groups of kids, you're going to love this routine.

THE CHAIR SUSPENSION: The same trick you already do where the kid is suspended on the edge of a chair except with some very funny patter and site gags you should have thought of. You'll go into the audience to watch the kid hold herself on the board and then get a guaranteed round of applause at the end. Very funny.

THE SLIDING DISK: Matt's performance and patter only. A trick that always leave kids screaming with delight.

When you buy a DVD called "Comedy Routines" you expect that the author/performer of said DVD is an expert on comedy. In my opinion, Mr. Fore is far from an expert. Unless the definition of an expert is someone who uses the same hackneyed lines that every single other magician on the planet uses. I'll take that pen back. That's how I got it . . . really . . . that one again?

Mr. Fore's a super nice guy and is an ok performer, but he's way too rambly and is a "let me tell you what I'm gonna do" kind of performer. His entire presentation is him telling you what he's gonna do . . . "Ok what were gonna do is this . . . then we're gonna take this and do that . . . then we'll move this over here." ARGHHHHHHHHH Let me outta here! If you're looking for some new comedy ideas, this probably isn't the best place to look. If you're looking to learn how to do some tricks, this isn't the best place to look. He uses mostly marketed props (other people's props) and doesn't not really teach much of anything regarding method.

There are a few exceptions, but mostly you see him perform a less than decent performance at a distance in front of a live audience recorded with a tripod and know close up. Then you go behind the scenes where he tells you "that trick used this prop, and you saw the presentation already so that's it."

Much of his "comedy" is at the expense of the audience members and he tends to wander around the stage quite a bit. In many of the effects, he walks back and forth between two or three tables on the stage that are not next to each other. There's a lot of turning his back on his audience, etc. He's just not a polished performer. I have a hard time with someone as unpolished as he is portraying himself as an expert on comedy.

Of course there were moments where the audience laughed even if the joke was hackneyed and he did have a few tips that the working pro may find useful. There is a lot of material on the DVD and you see him perform the following effects:

* Cut and Restored Tie
* Silk To Egg
* Burnt Money
* Coin in Bottle
* Arm Chopper
* Card Duck
* Chinese Sticks
* Mutilated Parasol
* Chair Suspension
* Sucker Sliding Disk (like a die box)

. . . and a couple of other things. I will say, that he has a pretty decent handling for the Coin in Bottle and Silk to Egg . . . a couple of really good utility moves. He also did have a couple of funny gags in the Arm Chopper routine. The Chair Suspension was, in my opinion, the best thing on the DVD. He had some really great gags and lines. The presentation was pretty solid. All in all, if you're looking for a solid study of comedy magic, get the three-pack Michael Finney set from L&L Publishing and pass on this.Because there are a couple of decent moments in this DVD, I can't fully call it rubble, so will give the official "mostly rubble" label of "Grubble."

This DVD has gotten some bad reviews. That's a shame. If you like comedy magic, you should add this to your collection. There are many things to be learned from this DVD. I have a number of really good oomedy DVDs and this is one of them.

This dvd is filled with routines for both adult and family shows. There is nothing earth shattering but there is a lot of nice routines for the old favourites. Matt is also a nice guy that has answered a couple questions that I had.

This DVD is just OK. I was a bit disapointed in the material presented and the camera work was a bit amatureish. I am always on the look out for good comedy material and although there was a good tip or two in this DVD I was disapointed overall.

MAtt is a true pro. I've seen MAtt perform his act in person. I've also attended his live lectures. Everyone will benefit from watching this DVD. MAtt offers well-developed professional routines that make people cry. You will definitely steal something from Mat's routine.

What Matt Fore does is cut out all of the fluff and get right to what works now and has always worked with the insertion of his personality. I enjoyed his performances but his other ideas on props which I have had in my drawer for decades has convinced me to dust them off and use them again. Great DVD for the person that really wants to be able to perform in any venue.
