I just performed this effect to music, and received a great response! Just when they think they have it figured out ... wham! ... they realize that they are now puzzled by it.

The size of the CDs, and the colors, make it perfect for platform and stage use. I used a 2-1/2 minute background of light music, which enabled me to move the CDs in a very mystical way. One suggestion ... don't force the gimmick open too much, or it could be ruined.

This is far better than the classic version that's done with records. Buy it!

The effect is fine, although it's simple quality (flexible, plastic-coated cardboard in vivid color). As noted by another reviewer, the "CDs" are larger. This doesn't affect my routine since I don't refer to them as CDs, and it does make them more visible. My complaint is that there are no English instructions and there's no disclosure of this fact in the sales blurb. Granted, it's a well known methodology and anyone who has been around will be able to figure it out, but in the interest of full disclosure, the lack of readable instructions is a pretty big deal. I think Penguin should be up-front about this. Also, the sleeve for the changes isn't durable enough to stand up to repeated openings (also previously noted by another reviewer). You can remedy this by making one of your own that will stand up to the final opening. All-in-all, an OK piece of merchandise but a poor and incomplete description.

It took me less than one minute after opening the package to understand how the entire effect works. This is a great effect and I am having loads of fun with this. That being said, I did not give it 5 stars because of the instructions. I thought at first they were not in English. Actually, if you look at the end of each sentence you will find it in English. Broken English but you can understand. The problem I really had was the DVD that was included would not play anywhere. I tried my laptop, 2 desktop computers and a DVD player and none of them would play it. What a major disappointment. The effect is great if you can figure out how to perform it.

Very good effect...but is not cd size, is 45 rpm (vinyl) record size.....
