I’m teaching an adult class on Magic and coins is one of the topics.
These coins are just about
50 Cent peace size. They are stamped really well.
They are very light.
And don’t expect them
to give a good clink when put together but that could be OK for you.
For their purpose of
learning how to Palm and simple coin manipulation I think they’re great.
I wish Penguin would
offer a similar coin but a little heavier.
2 of 2 magicians found this helpful.
An excellent coin vanish I recently learned requires these kind of smooth rim coins with no grooves
on the rim of the coin, these coins are also useful for many other magic effects; they seem pretty
solid/strong, nice and thin and light which is also good for the vanish and other effects, maybe
made of aluminum;
Also they do have a very sleight curve but no problem at all/ unnoticed; the
artwork is cool on there even though doesn’t look like Houdini it still represents him on there, one
side his face and other side him in restraints doing escape act; also really good to just have
anything at all imaged on the coin so it looks more normal and I’m glad it’s Houdini on there.
I ignored palming coins for years because I thought I didn't really need "training wheels" but every
time I tried to learn a classic palm I would get discouraged and give up. Finally, I gave in and got
these. In just a couple of days I was successfully holding a coin in each hand and was hardly ever
dropping! It was so fun. Soon, I got so good that I thought I might try with real coins, and I was
pretty good! Now, each time I practice, I get more and more confidence, and if I skip practice and
get rusty, I know I can revert to the palming coins until I shake the rust off.
The image
stamped on them is pretty crappy, you would have to tell someone that they are looking at Houdini,
but really, who cares?
This is hands down the best money I ever spent on magic!
