All I can say is wow. Can legit be done with a borrowed deck.
Do you have to do a mercury card fold?
But it can be done with a borrowed deck, just need to get permission from the spectator to fold card. They will probably decline, so then use your deck.
As far as the mercury fold question, it seems as you might just have the spectator sign the card, fold it in front of them and just vanish it in your own way and then produce it from the card box.
I too am still trying to master the mercury fold.😫
To perform ICB as seen on the trailer you are not required to do the Mercury card fold. However, it is a move that should be learned if you are going to perform card magic at this level. Take your old decks of cards (you don't throw away your old cards, do you?) and practice the move over and over, near a trash can.
Don't pass up the card VANISH which is taught on the download (not seen on the trailer). This would be a great way to combine ICB with other great "card to impossible location" effects. For example, you could go from ICB, reverse ICB and then transition into the Toi Box routine.
ICB is a great workers tool that opens up a myriad of routining possibilities.
I've had performers borrow my deck of cards, have a card signed, torn, folded, etc.
But they usually asked before they borrowed it.
The way I would handle this is to borrow the deck and after performance give the person a brand new sealed deck. Everyone is happy, and now you have an almost full deck that you can use for practice or subsequent routines.
