Appearance gets a 5. The wood handle is laqcuered, the tassels are very nice and visible. They did not work for me because I work primarily in a hospital. The wood handle made the "gimmick" slide within the handle very loud. For close up presentation it was obvious something was moving pulling the string up. In addition, it was too long to fit into my carrying case.
For a stage performance they would be great!
