Based on the video I had an idea of how this worked and I was correct. I’ve shown a few people and
they’ve immediately called me out. They won’t know the exact method but they’ll know what’s
controlling it. It’s tough to hide. He does cover some tips to help avoid this such as tilting the
deck back a little or passing your hand in front as your initiating the movement.
I
currently do Eugene burgers variation of the haunted pack, plus Don Alan’s rising card, Kundalini
Rising from Jeff McBride, and a version using loops. All of which I would prefer over this method.
If I didn’t have access to any of those, then I would resort to this method and probably still be
presentable. I feel like this move should supplement an already strong routine and not be the focus
of the routine.
I want to thank Reynold for his communication and obvious passion exhibited when responding to reviews. It is apparent that he cares and takes the time to ask for and respond to feedback. That’s important because not everyone in the magic community is as gracious.
I worked out a different starting point that works better to address my prior concerns. I’m going to be in California next week performing so I hope to use it many times to test it some more in walkaround settings. I think the rising card is a strong and classic effect and what Reynold devised is a clever way to do without thread. In my formal shows I’ll still use the prior methods but when all you have is a regular deck, I’ll do this version each time.
Thanks again for the response Reynold.
Hello,
I created this method over 20 years ago. I have never ever been called out. Not even close. With all your due respect I suspect maybe you are doing something wrong. If you can please send me a video of your performance maybe I can help you out and correct any handling issues.
Thanks!
