I am not a fan of the new format at all. I liked the old style Penguin lectures a lot better by
that is my opinion and I have no idea how many others feel this way.
I am however, a new
fan of Matt Baker. His act was fantastic and gives some great visual insight to some of the routines
in his recent book "The Bueno Vista Shuffle Club" which is also great. As much as I am mostly a
closeup only guy, I really liked the presentation of CLUE. Another thing that stood out for me was
that he uses a few marketed products made and sold by others as PART of his original routines but
respectfully does not go into their workings. Instead, he tells you if you do not want to use these
products, here is a way to reach it with some arts and crafts. Personally, the marketed items seem
perfect for the routines but the DIY will certainly do. The interview with Dan Harlan is as good and
thorough as all of Dan's interviews and Matt does teach his marketed "Misfit Deck" and routine from
Card-Shark and Phoenix cards.
I really liked this one.
If you like his book, you
will love his act. If you like the act... Buy the book. What are you waiting for.
