This effect is great for ONE spectator, or for a group of mindless people who do not try to follow along with the routine in their own minds. For those who DO, when you finish the trick, if they have followed your directions along with the one spectator who you are working with, the ONE spectator will be BAFFLED (if the trick is done well), but the others will most likely recognize that something is OFF!!
