There may be nothing new in magic but there are definitely improvements. David spends time giving
the history of oil and water effects in general and the two tricks leading up to this.
We
have a multi phase oil and water effect where not only are the faces shown to separate but also the
backs. You use only 8 cards, if you can borrow 2 different colored decks you can openly choose 4
from each and go into the effect. No gimmicks needed.
Sleight-wise it’s almost all done
with the obvious sleight that you should know, but it is briefly taught. A few minor “moves,” really
more like adjustments, are needed but are done as part of other open moves so nothing is out of
wack. If you didn’t see it in the trailer your spectators won’t either.
If you do Oil and
Water you need this. If you do anything with cards and don’t do O&W you need this even more.
You will have fun with this and leave your spectators both clueless and entertained. Of course
you can never go wrong with David Regal.
