The routine I was learning requires very supple rope. I initially bought "magician's rope" through Amazon. (I'm a Prime member so I like the free shipping). Well, that rope, while fine for a lot of rope magic, had the core still in the rope. While the BTC Parlor Rope was about twice the cost, it was worth the price.
