I bought this because it is advertised as the "ungimmicked Strange Travelers". Although I don't own
the original gimmicked version and I can't comment on how it compares, I can mention a few issues
that I had with this trick.
I like the effect itself, but the method is very obvious to
anyone who is a bit more perceptive or someone who is actively trying to "catch" how you do it. This
is not because of sleight of hand or some secret move you have to do, but a problem with the method
itself. If the spectator, for some reason, remembers two cards from the pack and not just one like
you instructed them to, the method is essentially revealed. It is an amazing effect when it works,
but I don't want to rely on my audience being unobservant.
I dislike the fact that no
matter how good you perform or how good you are at sleigh of hand, whether this trick will work
depends solely on your audience's observational skills. This makes the trick, in my opinion, almost
unusable if you are going for 100% deception.
