Great trick!
The principle is brilliant but can be mastered in about five minutes of
"doing it for yourself." No slights- it is essentially self working after a very easy initial deck
preparation, which he shows how to casually do in full view of the spectators. He also gives the
option of adding another "layer" to the final reveal if the chance presents itself.
I
performed this for some work colleagues after they performed a few simple classic "I'll find your
card in the deck" self-working tricks, and this this blew them away because the presentation
demonstrates you couldn't be using key cards.
My only complaint is that while Juan is a
passionate, great teacher, it would have been helpful to have a transcript or subtitles, as his
presentation is heavily accented, and sometimes he hesitates thinking of the preferred English word.
A new routine is hard enough to follow and learn when communication is clear and concise, and it
slows you down a little when you have to figure out if he's saying "king" or "thing."
Still, the trick is very much worth the cost. The above observation is just a recommendation to
consider for future productions by Juan(of which I hope there will be many!).
