"Eagle" by Will Fern is a challenging piece of magic. The trick is pure sleight of hand without the
use of misdirection. The strength of "Eagle" is that is can be performed impromptu with a borrowed
quarter.
First, I’ll comment on the obstacles of doing "Eagle." Despite being an
experienced coin worker, I find it difficult to make smooth, rapid, consistent transitions between
the required coin concealments. When performing the main routine of this download it is crucial
to consider spectator angles (never surrounded) and the ambient temperature (sweaty hands are a
problem). Lastly, I have average to large hands without windows and I would not do this with coin
larger than a quarter.
Although this is not an easy routine, I feel it is worth learning
and perfecting. Mr. Fern freely concedes that this is intended for the advanced coin worker and
will take most people time to achieve a quality performance. If nothing else, it is a superb
dexterity exercise. The didactic on this video is excellent and the 2 bonus tricks are solid and
worth your attention. The download is surprisingly inexpensive. In closing, I recommend "Eagle"
for the serious coin magician who want a strong effect and is willing to put in the time.
