Of course, these are the low cost Chinese Sticks. I knew what I was getting. They are made from
thin walled plastic tube (maybe PVC. They have a nice heavy weight inside. For me, the strings
feel too long, so luckily, that's an easy fix, just pull it to the desired length, knot, cut and
heat the end to melt it from coming untied. The part I didn't like the most is the weight banging
around in the tube during handling. So, I pulled the ends off also while I was tweaking the string.
I also had attached a small magnet to the bottom of the weights, and I sewed some thing material
around the weights to help dampen the sound against the plastic tube. I reassembled everything and
put a new piece of dowel in the end to finish it. They are much smoother and quieter. The shorter
string feels more natural too. Basically it's just longer than the length of the tubes. The
magnets also allow for a unique handling too. Someday, I will invest in a much nicer set, but these
will work well for now. If you are willing to put in a little work, you can make these feel like a
more expensive set.
