This is a super clever “how did I not think of that?” idea. I won’t perform this exactly as written
cause I don’t think that presentation is a major improvement over the (main) Hoy book test. However,
there is another, gimmicked Hoy book test which this could replace, and the gimmick is MUCH easier
to make — less examinable, but the gimmicked Hoy wasn’t all that examinable either. The only
downside to this over the gimmicked Hoy is that this has one less element of free choice - they
can’t choose either book. But you can get around (easily) that the same way you would with the
standard Hoy book test.
The bonus idea is almost better than the main effect, and Matt’s
thoughts on how to camouflage a certain common mentalism method were compelling. Took this idea for
a test drive on the (far too knowledgeable, she busts me on everything) girlfriend, and this one
lambasted her, even though she knows the core concept.
Overall, this is an excellent
purchase, and you will almost certainly make use of the ideas in here in one way or another.
