I have been a fan of Eugene since back in the mid-eighties when I first saw him lecture and took one
of his master classes on equivoque. He was one of the greatest thinkers about magic in my lifetime.
This book is thicker than any of his other wonderful books (I have them all). In fact it it
twice as thick. The material from the essays and transcribed talks, to the magnificant card
material that he held back until his death, are simply fantastic.
There are lots of books that
will teach you more tricks, but few that will make you a better magician. This is at the top of my
list. Included are videos of Mr. Burger doing many of the pieces in the book (because they depend
upon timing and subtlety rather than complex moves.
One should not think that these tricks are
easy. The difficulty lies in the rehearsal required and the rapport created rather than the moves.
I cannot recommend this more highly. It is certainly in my top five books and right now (as I
work my way through it) it is at the very top. Don't let this book get away from you. You will
regret it for a long time.
