The trick is great.
I got it as part of the Black Friday Deals, so I was OK playing the
price. Yeah, it's a little expensive.
It uses some methods that you're probably already
aware of, but it is almost sleight free. A little practice and everything, including the cleanup, is
practically risk free. The video instructions are good, not crazy awesome, but good enough to get
you going.
The reactions I get are all over the board. Stunned silence, Screams, total
befuddlement. I've already preformed this in some bars and restaurants. Handing out the card and
letting the spectator keep it at the end is just more baffling to lay people. (Yes, I got the Refill
Pack. Worth it.)
One of the things I like about this is that the cards use the Maiden Back
design. For me this is perfect. (I buy them by the case: https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/8474 )
However, if you don't have maiden back cards, that may be an issue, but I'd be willing to do this
on a regular bicycle deck. You may not, be warned.
Another thing I don't like about it, but
it isn't a big deal to remove a star on the review, is that there aren't other card gimmicks to hand
out. We are stuck to the Jack of Diamonds.
I'd recommend this trick as long as you don't
live within a 30 mile radius of me. I don't want others doing it on my turf. :-)
The effect itself is actually set up for red backed bicycle cards as this is the most commonly used back design. Only the puzzle is maiden back. With a little work, the effect could actually be reworked with any back design. However, the puzzle will always be maiden back which is fine as you’re introducing this as a completely separate item.
That being said, I’m glad you like it :)
