I picked this up in the 5-for-$99 sale last November and promptly forgot I’d purchased it—not for
the usual reasons (holiday cleanup etc.) but because it had no packaging and I had no idea why I had
received this object. That’s how unassuming Xpert is. After figuring out what I had—in March!—and
only after running the tutorial video!—I started fooling around with it and discovered what a
brilliant tool it is. I’m no mentalist and will never pretend to be, but I HAVE to figure out how to
build an Xpert effect or two into my routines, which could use a really surprising effect. So no, I
haven’t tried these effects yet because I’m still practicing them to make them fit with what I
usually do. But dang, the bent coin and dream card bits really are practically self-working, and the
Vampire Killer took about 10 minutes of one-time prep. NOTE: been said a bunch of times, I know, but
it bears repeating: Any plastic-coated cards seem to work fine, so long as they’re not textured.
