I recommend staying away from this for now. My gimmick straight up doesn't work. It doesn't take
long scrolling through the Lux FB page to see that many people are receiving defective units.
The idea is incredible, and the instructions provide lots of ideas in a lot of detail. This is a
5 star idea, but the buggy gimmick zaps it of all of its practicality. I'd wait for batch 2 or 3...
My gimmick works great so does my friends who ordered also, so many possibilities with Lux. If your unit is defective return it for another one. Your missing out on so many great effects.
I agree with Stark1701. My first LUX was defective too... despite changing the batteries and correctly orienting them the unit would not turn on. I contacted Penguin customer service and they had me send them a video of the non-functioning uv light. They then sent a replacement at no cost to me.
It took another week or so but that was during "backorder" time... your replacement would most likely be shipped faster.
As Stark1701 says, there's so much you can do with this utility tool you really should go ahead and request a replacement. I think they corrected the connectivity issue with the most recent batch that just hit distributors. Cheers and good luck!
I'm having issues with mine right out of the box (flickering in alternating mode). I love Lloyd and his ideas but I'm a bit disappointed after spending $75. I just messaged Penguin and I'm confident they will resolve my issue but it's disappointing nonetheless.
I've had mine for less than 2 weeks and it doesn't turn on all the time and the button is very loose where you can see the light around it. I contacted penguin and still waiting to hear back from them. I expected better quality for a $75 gimmick.
Shouldn't have to return anything, you should get a working product the first time. Unless this is just happening to one or two people. That's why he is saying to wait, because obviously there's a problem with at least half of the products being shipped.
