I was the Mystery Reader at my twins' kindergarten class this morning. I chose a book to read about
a magic hat, and used the venue to perform this trick for the first time. I changed the trick up
slightly, but not a lot.
Before I read the story, I gave a nickel to a little girl to hold
and keep warm while I read.
I added a real miniature magic wand for the trick that was
handed out for inspection before the main part of the trick began, and it somewhat matched another
wand used in the trick.
After I finished reading the short book, I took the nickel back
and asked the class if you have 5 cents and I take away 5 cents from you, what do you have left.
The whole class said zero. No, I replied. 5 - 5 equals...LOLLIPOP.
The kids all
freaked out, and then went bonkers some more when 28 more lollipops magically appeared from a hat I
was wearing.
