Personally I reset instantly at the end. When the signed card has been handed out and I bring out the full deck from the back pocket the gimmick is still in my right hand.

Because all attention is on the signed card and a little on the deck I just pick up one card casually and bring my right hand over the top of it and manually add it as I proceed to pick up the rest of the cards adding the card to the bottom and placing the deck back in the box...

As the trick is over nobody is burning you.

Then I just take the cards out leaving the one card that is ready to go in the box until the next desired time. :)
