This never fails when done properly. I use it with couple and show how they subconsciously know each other’s thoughts. I have the woman pick one of 5 ESP cards face down and have her cover it. Then I start the stack showing the man how to stack them. He completes the stack and, ta-da, the last symbol showing matches the card his wife picked that no one has seen until now.
