Sometimes, it takes a while for it to work, and this lag must be filled with distracting patter.
"How's your day?"... "Nice jacket, where'd you buy it?"... doesn't cut it. You must fill the lapse
in time with precise conversation so your audience won't think something is up.
Also, I've had
problems with people grabbing the watch out of my hand before I know what happened and inspecting
it. Of course, I gently take it back saying, "You didn't ask permission, sorry." Another problem
is people asking, "Hey, do it with my watch!" I get a lot of those. I respond, "One show only."
