Great effect, I really amazed some people with this -- it was easy to learn, but only after I came
up with a variation that avoided the necessity of having to do one difficult move.
So
that's the first caveat: the promo includes a routine where the coin reappears under a bottlecap
held in the spectator's hand, but this requires a move (when you put the cap into their hand) that
is difficult to do well, and if you mess that up, the trick is ruined. I prefer to do the trick on
a surface -- I've found that a stack of four sheets of paper, on top of a hard surface like a table,
is simultaneously firm enough and cushioned enough to avoid a noise giveaway. Then I say "I'll bet
you a dollar it's not under here, well DUH" -- and here I plonk the bottlecap down fairly hard on
the table -- "because I can here it over here" -- while moving the other bottlecap so spectator can
hear the rattling sound.
I find that saying "DUH" very sarcastically, gives the perfect
cover for plonking the bottlecap hard down on the table, which is what you need for the trick to
work.
Second caveat: The promo says "completely examinable", but that's only if you make
the coin disappear without reappearing. If you make the coin reappear, and the spectator examines
the coin and the bottlecap at the same time, they'll easily discover... well, I'm being circumspect
to avoid a spoiler (although you can probably guess), but the bottom line is it's not "examinable"
if the coin re-appears.
As long as you keep those two things in mind, it's a 5 out of 5 for
ease of use and spectator reaction.
