It is rare nowadays to find a true diamond in the rough when it comes to Magic. This venue has been
drowned with mediocrity, that when something truly worth owning gets buried underneath. The Trilogy
by Dan and Dave Buck truly shines and anyone who performs Card magic professionally or not should
look into this collection
Dan and Dave pull out all the stops here. This collection is
jam-packed with over 6 hours of Tricks, Flourishes, and Everything Else...literally. Disc 1 contains
13 tricks that are very visual. The tricks themselves are in the intermediate-advanced range, but
they are all well- explained and Dan and Dave are excellent teachers, as well as performers. The
great thing is none of the tricks require gaffs, dupes, or gimmicks, pure sleight of hand and skill.
mastering these will definitely be a feat but the payoff will be worth it.
Disc 2 contains
a bevy of flashy flourishes. I'm not much of a cardist, but these moves are a definite asset to
cardistry enthusiasts. Some of these moves are not for the faint of heart and may take quite a bit
of practice to get it down straight. The Buck twins again do a great job of teaching here, some
times they tend to go a little faster than one would hope but overall they get their points across.
Lsstly Disc 3 is pretty much a cornucopia of random: Sleights, shuffles, finger exercises,
changes and more. Also some of the more basic flourishes are taught in a section labeled "Flourishes
101." Here 20 of the more basic flourishes are taught such as the Thumb Fan, Pressure Fan, Charlier
Cut, and Sybil just to name a few. There is also a few little tricks scattered here and there on the
Disc 3 such as the The Black Jack Production and Shuffled Aces. Probably one the funnest DVD's of
the three to watch. Disc 3 pretty much sets the bar high for an "extras" dvd.
As well as
this, Dan and Dave teach numerous sleights and controls, such as the DMB Spread Control, throughout
the Trilogy which can be used in numerous applications and tricks in your own arsenal.
Overall this collection is top-shelf. The material contained on these DVD's could last you for
years, and there is always something to go back to. It can be overwhelming to some, but this will
really make you work hard to achieve some visual miracles with a deck of cards What Dan and Dave
have done is purely a masterpiece and should be a standard in the making of all magic dvd's
henceforth.
