I played with the "gimmick" that came already made and I didn't care for the light-weight and
misshapen rubber bands that were supplied, so I went to the little box where we toss the rubber
bands from our morning newspaper (thicker and more uniform in shape) and made my own "gimmick" per
the instructions. As I continued to work with it, I became more and more critical of how easily the
bands appeared to NOT be really linked. But as I began working out my own routine (and patter), and
then performing in front of a mirror, I noticed that the illusion was indeed spectacular. As I
slightly turned the "linked" bands from side to side, and seeing the top loop of the bottom band,
the human eye (perhaps due to the same "persistence of vision" that lets us see animated drawings)
SEES the bands connected! When I separated the bands by letting them seem to stretch a little bit
before separating, I then stretched the untreated band and tossed it on the table, then I did the
same to the treated band and tossed it on the table WITH THE GIMMICK STILL IN IT! My two friends
BEGGED me to tell them how I did it! I'm telling you people SEE these bands as actually being
LINKED! This is no doubt, for really informal and close-up magic, the best gag I have ever
purchased. I absolutely LOVE IT! And it is SO easy to make. Sorry for this being so long.
