The Opening Minds DVDs worked on my old non-widescreen TV.
Though these were shot with widescreen in mind, the menus are toward the center so they can be accessible on an older screen. I enjoyed the DVDs very much and learned a lot. Especially loved the close-up one on one mentalism.
