Boris chose a birthday theme for maximum impact, but this actually is "ANY card” at any number" and it is the BEST version I have ever read or performed. They can choose any number, 1-52! And they do choose ANY number.....AND they choose ANY card. NO force or equivoque.

I re-watched the DVD performance for an hour and couldn't figure it out. I think that's a good exercise instead of jumping to the explanation. But this routine had me fooled, badly. What had me stumped is that the audience member removed the deck from the card box and they counted the cards to the freely chosen number. It just didn’t seem possible.
