The Good:
AMAZING REACTIONS, and its really quick to perform! Everyone that I showed my
new app to had a genuine reaction to the spider appearing on their hand.
The Bad:
The app itself like any app is largely device dependant, the native camera on my phone crashes
the app, but the in app camera shows a blurry picture. This is going to vary from device to device
though. Additionally, you can only show this trick to each person once... fine for table hopping or
hitting the street, but for us casual try-hards at work, don't think this will have much life in the
office.
The Ugly:
You have to purchase the app separately. I didn't realize this
from the PM description however after the fact it was in one of the reviews.
Recommendation:
I love the reactions from this gag, however after two weeks at work I
had showed everyone that I was going to show, so to me it wasn't really worth the money for me.
However if you feel like you can get more life out of it than I did, they I would really recomend
checking out the website 'www.mypetboris.com' and select a cheaper pack, there's really no need to
buy 3 spiders and 3 cockroaches for this trick.
Recent app updates should have solved all these issues. With Android, not all cameras operate the same way. The three camera modes in the app are compatible with a wide range of phones from Android V2.2.2 - 4.4 but you may need to try each one to find the best for your device.
The iPhone version is much simpler as the camera is from the one manufacturer. In any case if anyone has issues please contact support@mypetboris.com and I'll do what I can to rectify the problem as quickly as possible.
I don't understand why you complain about only being able to show this trick to each person once. As I remember. One of the golden rules of magic says "Never show the same trick, twice to the same person"
...and I don't understand why all the whining over a $2.99 phone app. When I think of all the stuff in my magic collection that I never perform much, if at all, I figure I'll at least be using this...and a few bucks for some bugs and you have yourself a very reactive gag!...use good judgement with this, they will freak a little on this one...peace
