The last few minutes redeemed the lecture. Unfortunately, I found many of the routines somewhat
convoluted (serial number revelation to card trick to disappearing card to disappearing bill to bill
in strange location to card on bill to... I lost track!).
I also found little new in the
methods -- only their combination was innovative. Max's presentation was not terribly inspired
(although he was playing to a group of seasoned magicians and not a lay audience) and his technique
at times painfully transparent.
He demoed some very nice apps, and if you are into that you
might have got your money's worth... although the majority of the routines that he showed require
you purchasing a gimmick or an app from him! More like a sales promo than a lecture.
In
the last five minutes he taught (seemingly begrudgingly) a nice impromptu set with cards (in the
spectators' hands no less) which was refreshingly simple, direct and usable.
