Jay does a great job of walking you through the basics of making this card. However, I would recommend just making a color changing card (that is change a card from blue to red). When making the color changing card the gimmick is much thinner. Also make sure to not overlap a half inch like he says (I think in the video he meant to say overlap SLIGHTLY). I highly recommend this if you enjoy making your own gimmicks.
