In my opinion Annemann's Practical Mental Effects Vol. 5 by Richard Osterlind is worth having.
Again, I like to collect complete sets and Richard Osterlind's material is top shelf. I already
owned "Horrors," but enjoyed Osterlind's presentation and performance tips. I will likely make up
the Ultra Slate Message and incorporate it into a larger routine. I found Osterlind's slate handling
method highly deceptive. I like the premise behind Who Killed Mr. X, but I don't like the "peek"
method and will likely change it before performing it. I will use Cherchez La Lady as part of a
larger "find the lady" routine. I did not think Between the Lines was all that clean and will not be
using it. Bert Reese Secrets (for Groups) is a good Q&A effect, but I already have better Q&A
effects that to my mind are less prone to detection.
For me, getting four effects that I
can use makes this DVD worth having. I have spent a lot more on single effects that just sit in
storage bins because the promo looked good, but the gimmick or method was weak.
If you are
doing mentalism and have Annemann's book, this DVD is a great companion.
